    After updating to this release, the URL http://domain/ no longer authenticates users and everyone appears anonymous.  Every other URL (including http://domain/default.aspx) appears to work, so it might be something in a HttpHandler that was changed.

    Can some one look into this as its causing some problems.  If a user is logged in, they will think that they aren't and will click on the Login button, which will redirect them back to the the http://domain/ URL where they will again appear to be logged out.  It's a never ending loop.

    Can you see if they are in fact logged in? Also check to make sure you don't have cache on that page as that can hang up things.

    They are logged in.  Simply navigating to any other page, as I stated above, proves that they are logged in.  But no matter what, navigating to the root folder results in Sitefinity not authenticating the user.  Doing a CTRL-F5 refresh would invalidate any caching it there was any, and it will still result in the user not being authenticated.

    I copied the old DLLs over as a test and the site worked as it used to, so it is definitely a bad DLL.

    Hi Bill,

    This is a very strange problem.
    We checked the changes made in the version 3.7 and didn't find something which could cause it.
    Do you upgrade from 3.6?

    However the described from you behavior is very similar to a problem with using extensionless URLs in IIS7 integrated mode. You can find more details here:
    http://www.sitefinity.com/support/forums/sitefinity-3-x/developing-with-sitefinity/extensionless-urls-in-sitefinity-3-6.aspx

    In this case, could you please try one of the following solutions?

    1. Set runAllManagedModulesForAllRequests attribute to true in the system.webServer -> modules element in the web.config:
    <system.webServer>
        <modules runAllManagedModulesForAllRequests="true"

    2. Remove and add the modules manually without precondition:
    <system.webServer>
        <validation validateIntegratedModeConfiguration="false"/>
        <modules>
          <remove name="FormsAuthentication"/>
          <remove name="RoleManager"/>
          <add name="FormsAuthentication" type="System.Web.Security.FormsAuthenticationModule" />
          <add name="RoleManager" type="System.Web.Security.RoleManagerModule" />

    Please let us know if the above helps, otherwise we should investigate this issue further.

    Hey Vlad,

    That is very interesting and it did the trick.  I used option #1 and the site is again working.  We upgraded from 3.6 and it is rather strange that 3.6 worked fine w/o this.

    Thanks a bunch,
    Bill

    I just confirmed this patch breaks our integration with Aptify eBusiness. We use Windows Server 2003 for development so the proposed config changes don't apply. i tried them anyways with no luck.

    Did something change in Telerik.Cms.Web.CmsHttpModule?. It seems Aptify eBusiness requires stuff related to Page.Application and Page.User to validate its license and this update is setting to null some values their libs expect.

    For us is back to 3.6 with the RSS publish date bug and all :-(

    Hi Bill and Victor,

    Yes, will did some changes (improvement) in Telerik.Cms.Web.CmsHttpModule. After inspecting them again, we cannot something which could cause such problem.
    The problems with loosing the authentication (HttpContenxt.Current.User is null) for extenssionless URLs is related to the IIS 7 configuration. The workarounds, provided in my previous post are applied for to both v3.6 and v3.7.

    Victor,
    Could you elaborate more about the issue you have? What is your web site environment? What are you doing to reproduce the problem?

    Best wishes,
    Vlad

    Vlad,

    Our customer bought a ERP product named Aptify, it comes with with a web API they call EBusiness and they recommend using Sitefinity as CMS and provide modules you can use in your websites.

    For EBusiness to work, the application pool running sitefinity needs to use a windows account assigned an Aptify client license since they use windows authentication.

    I didn't go very far troubleshooting but as far as I can dig up EBusiness loads its own module in <httpModules> section. When we install Sitefinity 3.7 patch, the entire website breaks with null reference exceptions in the following EBusiness method call:

    public virtual UserCredentials GetLoginCredentials(HttpApplicationState ApplicationState, IPrincipal UserInfo)

    Unfortunately I don't have a way to trace the exact point in that method where is failing but what we see is the web server unable to authenticate to the database server, authentication is refused by the OS, not SQL. So it seems something in CmsHttpModule is changing the way windows authentication is passed between servers.

    We asked our customer to contact Aptify and report this issue. Maybe they can provide some help tracking this down.

    What file is it exactly that we need to download for upgrading from 3.6 to 3.7?

    Is there a special patch zip or can I extract this from the full installa package somehow?

    When upgrading from 3.6 to 3.7 the WYSIWYG editor's "insert a link" option no longer lists any site pages. When editing in WYSIWYG you click on the "insert link" button and then click "select a page from this site" the list comes up only showing an "All Pages" item. I have checked and the pages are still there and can be edited and navigated to in both the admin area and the public site. I have also created new pages after the 3.7 upgrade and they don't show up in the list either.

    Any ideas on how to get this list to populate correctly?

    Thanks in advance,
    Scott Babcock

    Hello Scott Babcock,

    Thank you for using our services.

    We are aware of the problem, and it is logged for fixing. The issue comes from the fact that the page selector in Sitefinity 3.7 is bound to the Sitemap Navigation. Now if a page is set as not show in navigation it will not appear also in the page selector. This issue should be fixed in our upcoming service pack. As a temporary workaround you could try just typing in the URL to the page.

    Rado,

    Thank you for your quick response. I have only been using Sitefinity for a few weeks but I am really impressed with your product and now your customer support as well. Keep up the good work.

    Your explanation of the issue was enough for me to fix the particular problem I was having. All pages were sub-pages of the home page, which was marked as not showing in navigation. I changed that setting on the home page and now all pages show up in the page selector.

    Thanks again for your help.

    Hi Scott Babcock,

    Here's just a follow up on the previous replies. SP1 of 3.7 will be released in 2-3 weeks. It will deliver the fix for this issue, and RadControls Q2 2009 SP1 and some other minor fixes.
