    We are happy to inform you that Sitefinity 3.0 SP2 is already available for download from your Client.net account. Note that this time we are also providing a zip containing the files necessary to upgrade projects created with previous versions, without the need to uninstall Sitefinity 3.0 or SP1. Replace the files in the C:\Program Files\telerik\Sitefinity3.0\ProjectManager\EmptyProject to make sure new projects are created with SP2. Also Community and Standard editions can be installed on single machine.

    Major fixes since SP1:

    Problems with database upgrade scripts
    Problems with treeview in Templates
    Head tags in Templates
    Page group operations
    Issue with module create permission (blogs, polls, lists)
    Issue with default menu behavior for styling selected items
    Issues with comments filtering and search
    Issue with locking a page by multiple users
    Issue with immediate publication on creation of a new page
    Issue with multilingual for Generic Content not displaying on public pages

    Yours truly,
    the Telerik team

    thats good news thanks.
    for live projects on shared hosting servers would it just be a case of uploading the new sitefinity folder and overwriting everything thats in there to take use of the new features?

    thanks

    I'm glad to know that we can install both editions of Sitefinity now.

    Now how about giving us a tool that can auto migrate projects between standard and community edition?

    Also... have either the user or developer manuals been updated? If so, can we have them as a separate download as well?

    Hi there Josef,

    The documentation has been there since SP1.  You can find it here.

    http://www.sitefinity.com/support/documentation.aspx

    But it should have also been included in your SF installation?

    Hi all,

    Sean, thanks for the clarification.

    Just wanted to let know that there should not be problems with the shared hosting environment when upgrading your project. Overwriting the bin and Sitefinity folders should do the work. The web.config should be updated too if the current version is lower than SP1.

    Josef, providing a tool for project upgrade seems like a nice idea. Perhaps we would consider it. For the time being switching between community and standard editions should be done by overwriting the bin and Sitefinity folders. Don't forget the license file as well.

    Hi,

    I have upgraded a few sites to SP2 without issue.  Vassil mentioned upgrading the web.config if you're earlier than SP1, but I didn't know you needed to make changes to the web.config, just changes to the /bin/ and /sitefinity/ folders.  What do i need to do to the web.config?

    Thanks

    Ben

    Hi,

    When converting from official to SP1 release, you should add five more controls under "telerik/cms/toolboxControls" section (not necessary though):

    <add name="Dynamic Hyper Link" section="Navigation" type="Telerik.Cms.Web.UI.DynamicHyperLink, Telerik.Cms" description="Dynamic Hyper Link lets you declare link for cms pages so that its Navigate URL doesn't not depend on where the page is located in the hierarchy."/>
    <add name="Site Menu" section="Navigation" url="~/Sitefinity/UserControls/SiteMenu.ascx"/>
    <add name="Site Panelbar" section="Navigation" url="~/Sitefinity/UserControls/SitePanelbar.ascx"/>
    <add name="Site Tabstrip" section="Navigation" url="~/Sitefinity/UserControls/SiteTabstrip.ascx"/>
    <add name="Site Treeview" section="Navigation" url="~/Sitefinity/UserControls/SiteTreeview.ascx"/>

    as well as new rss provider section under "telerik/cmsEngine":

    <rssProviders>
        <clear/>
        <add name="Blogs" type="Telerik.Blogs.RssProvider, Telerik.Blogs" visible="True" applicationName="/Blogs" rssFieldAuthor="Author" rssFieldTitle="Title" rssFieldPubDate="Publication_Date" />
    </rssProviders>

    All the best,

    Hey guys

    Our clients are loving Sitefinity 3 - nice work! Just wondering about version 3.1. Do you have an estimated release date for that? We have been using Community Server for our forums thus far but a simple in-built forum would be very nice ;)

    An estimate would be great.

    Thanks
    Adam

    Hello Adam Griffith,

    Thank you for the good words. Sitefinity 3.1 is planned for release in the second half of September. As you may have seen in the roadmap, it will include a new forums module, so stay tuned.

    Could you tell us a bit about what will be in the forums module? Is it like the one on telerik.com?

    Hi Daniel Plomp,

    Yes, the forum module will resemble the one on telerik.com. It will have the ability to separate the different forums into categories. There will be two display modes - threaded and simple, the simple mode being like telerik.com. In the threaded mode, the posts in a certain thread will be shown hierarchically in a tree structure. You will be able to set permissions, as in the other modules, block users by IP, or set the status of the forums, so that they are hidden or locked for posting.

    Best wishes,
    Slavo

    Hi Slavo,

    That sounds great!
    Would it also support 'subscriptions' like this forum, so that you get an e-mail when the forum has been updated and that you can reply etc?

    Would be a nice addition.

    Bye,
    Daniel

    Hello Daniel,

    Unfortunately, our plans do not include the functionality you describe. We probably won't be able to do this until September, but we will consider including it in 3.2 or a later version of Sitefinity. Thank you very much for the suggestion, though. We would be glad if you share any other ideas for features you have.

    Hi,

    This sounds great and I think it will be a valuable addition to Sitefinity.  I would think that having the ability to subscribe would be a pretty fundamental part of it, though, and I would guess that it's a key feature in most forums (certainly the one's I've used).  I would hope you are able to get that feature in soon.

    Also, you had mentioned at one point that there were plans for shopping cart that would be integrated into Sitefinity.  Is this still planned?
    http://www.sitefinity.com/support/forums/support-forum-thread/b1043S-mcahd.aspx

    As for the Photo Gallery, that is HUGE for us.  We've been trying to find a gallery that will work well with Sitefinity and has all the features we're looking for, but haven't found one yet.  Here's my original post about this with the features we'd love to have:
    http://www.sitefinity.com/support/forums/support-forum-thread/b1043S-mcgte.aspx

    Do you have a rough timeframe for 3.2?

    Thanks a lot

    Ben

    Hi Ben,

    Did you see the custom image gallery control that was made by one of the sitefinity developers?

    It is not very enhanced, but it works fine and looks great.

    http://blogs.sitefinity.com/Ivan/Post/07-07-23/image_gallery_for_sitefinity_a_better_one_.aspx

    Maybe it is something you can use or extend?

    Bye,

    Hi Daniel,

    Funny, I found that RIGHT after I posted the reply, and have been playing with it.  It's GREAT!  It doesn't have ALL the features I want, but it allows users to upload photos to a folder and it handles the rest and looks great!  So easy.

    I made a little tweak so you can post images with underscores and it removes them and replaces them with spaces in the titles, and so while viewing the images you see the image name instead of "click to enlarge."  3 lines of code or something.

    Thanks for the link and thanks to Bob for creating it!

    Regarding the new forum feature and e-mail support.

    I think the e-mail subscription is a pretty common (and user friendly) feature for forums today so that  your users do not have to come back to your site every 30 minutes to see a reply has been posted.  While this functionality might not work for every situation, I think it would be a great option to have.

    Hi James,

    Thank you for the suggestion, we have already planned the feature. However, we cannot promise that it will make it in the September release as we are busy with implementing other features. It is definitely something that needs to be done and will surely be included in future versions.

    Hi Stuart,

    The next version (v3.1) will be released at the end of September. But the AJAX-enabled interface feature is planned for version 3.2. The approximate date for v3.2 is not scheduled yet.

    Please take a look at the roadmap.
