With the upcoming release of RadControls For ASP.NET AJAX Q1 2008 scheduled for next week, is there any information available regarding an upcoming release of Sitefinity which completely does away with all the "old" versions of the RadControls in favour of the far better, and far simpler to use, RadControls for ASP.NET AJAX?

As someone who's built projects over the past several years and has undergone the task of migrating all those projects to Prometheus I'm a little reluctant to go with Sitefinity in production if its migration isn't planned for the immediate future.

Perhaps its time to update the Sitefinity roadmap as well since it talks about 3.2 as an upcoming release.

    Keep up the good work!

    Hello Shaun Peet,

RadControls For ASP.NET Q1 2008 will be built-in Sitefinity in version 3.2SP2 which is scheduled to be released in the beginning of May. Usually our CMS is migrating to the new controls once they are released.

    Sincerely yours,
    Georgi

    Hello,

Just wondering if there is a more specific timeline available for SP2?  Thanks,

    Shaun.

Have you guys considered having (or do you have)  a section that would be for detailed roadmaps for users?  I know you have a public roadmap on your site, but it doesn't really cover release dates or details on service packs.  I find myself searching your forums for "3 2 sp2" to find hints of when you expect releases and what will be in them.  It seems like you are good at answering people's questions about dates, but a centralized place to go and see "3.2 SP2 rescheduled for May 27, 2008.  These will be the features/fixes:..." would be helpful.  A place we can bookmark and come back to regularly to see progress updates.

    Thanks a lot!

    Ben

    Hi Ben,

This is a very good suggestion and we will consider it for implementation.  We realize that more feedback with regard to release dates would be very helpful to all.

At this point, however, our plans change too often to be able to provide you with a precise timeline. We are trying to incorporate the numerous client requests we get every day. We are also trying to react quickly to bug reports and critical issues. New task occur often and we change our plans to provide for that.

As a general guidance, you might consider the following:
    •    We have 2 to 3 releases per year (at the beginning and end of the year).
    •    We have about 2 Service Packs in between. They focus on bug fixing and come within a month period from each other.
Now that our product and client base have grown we are working to improve our planning process as to be able to give you with more guidance on our plans.

As a first step we will start announcing release dates (once they are clear) as sticky messages in the forum.

I hope that I was able to address your concern.

    Regards,
    Kalina
