    Hi,

I have a question regarding setting up roles in sitefinity, I have created a new role XYZ in back end,
I am trying to hide a page and  menu tab based on it. But my problem is

Let me explain the situation., for ex.

"Sam" is available under Manager role and he is also in new role called XYZ.

Manager  is not allowed to see this page and XYZ is only allowed for viewing it.

In order to set this I denied Manager role and Allow only XYZ. So Bill is not able to view this page though he is in XYZ because we are denying access from Manager.

Could you please help me out with this situation how can I set this up in order to hide and show that menu tab ?

    Thank you in advance
    Priyanka

    Hello Karthik,

If an user belongs to two roles and in one of these roles you set "Deny" for a given right the user will not be able to operate with the object although it has "Allow" in another role. The Deny rule has higher priority than Allow.

    Hi Karthik,

The permissions are something in the basis of Sitefinity. You cannot alter this logic for the out of the box features. If you want to have it for a custom module there would not be a problem, since you can implement your own permissions and priorities for the rules in them.
