Hello everyone, I am new here and new to SiteFinity CMS.

I am exploring the possibility of using it to setup a community file download website, where users can download media (mostly installers or ZIP files) and rate content. Each file will have N screenshots, ratings and download counts. We already have a data model in place (SQL Server) and we created some ASP.net webservice to consume and take care of the business logic.

My questions is, how does one best go about tying SiteFinity into an existing DB or make it consume web services?

Thanks for any input and suggestions.

    Hi Alexander,

Sitefinity follows the structure of standard ASP.NET website application. You need to set the connectionstring to your DB ( or import your tables in Sitefintiy database) and create a control that will be bound to your data. Another option is using DownloadList control which can easily be tweaked to meet your requrements event without creating persistence classes - you can work with metadata dynamic fields.

    Best wishes,

Thanks Ivan that sounds good. I have some additional questions but will ask them in the SiteFinity 4.0 area.
