    Hi Pierre,

    Do you need the compiled localization resources or the not compiled ones so that you can translate them your self? If you need the compilied ones you can find them attached to this thread. If you need the not compiled ones, please notify us that you need them.

    I noticed that in the new web.config that the SitefinityXML provider for wiki is missing under the <wiki> section

    <providers>
                    <clear/>
                    <add name="SitefinityXml" securityProviderName="" type="Telerik.Wiki.Data.XmlProvider, Telerik.Wiki.Data" dataFile="~/App_Data/Wikis.xml" visible="true"/>
                </providers>

    Does this mean it's been moved to be database as the provider? If not, I think the default web.config should have the provider above commented out. If so, is there anything special we need to do?

    Thanks

    Hi Matt,

    Thank you for using our services.

    In Sitefinity 3.7 SP1 we have changed the Wiki module to be a Generic Content based module so have the data provider listed under the Generic Content providers section in the web.config. Then in the wiki section in the web.config you have to define which generic content provider you have to use. Here are the changes in Wiki from 3.7:
    <cmsEngine defaultProvider="Generic_Content"
     <providers>
      <add name="Wiki" urlRewriteFormat="[Wiki]/[Name].aspx" urlWhitespaceChar="_" visible="False" defaultMetaField="Name" securityProviderName="" allowVersioning="True" applicationName="/Wiki" versioningProviderName="" allowComments="true" commentsModeration="true" connectionStringName="GenericContentConnection" dataFile="~/App_Data/Wikis.xml" type="Telerik.Wiki.Data.XmlProvider, Telerik.Wiki.Data" />
    ...
     </providers>
    </cmsEngine>
    <wiki defaultGenericProvider="Wiki" defaultProvider="SitefinityXml"
          <genericContentProviders>
            <add providerName="Wiki" urlRewriteFormat="[Wiki]/[Name].aspx" urlWhitespaceChar="_" />
          </genericContentProviders>
        </wiki>

    However this does not change he fact that the Wikis are stored in the XML Data file.

    All the best,

    can you elaborate more on what was fixed on the extensionless url handling? we've recently upgraded to iis 7 and are using integrated pipeline mode on version 3.7 SP1, and are experiencing issues with 404 pages and themes, related to the problems here: http://www.sitefinity.com/support/forums/sitefinity-3-x/bugs-issues/sitefinity-404-handling.aspx

    If I understand correctly, on integrated mode, we do NOT need the sf404.aspx page is that correct? we only have to set our default 404 page. which I've done, however if we navigate to a non-existant page WITHOUT the aspx extension, it attempts to load theme files from this non-existant location:

    example: navigate to site.com/existingpagegroup/nonexistingpage tries to load site.com/existingpagegroup/app_themes/currenttheme/stylesheet.css instead of loading it from the root.

    has this been fixed?

    Hi SelArom,

    I am not sure that I understood the case.

    When you navigate to non-existent page without extension, don't you get the 404/Not Found error? Actually it should be 404 error coming from asp.net but not from IIS. What kind of themes or css files do you expect to be loaded?

    If I navigate to a non-existent page without the extenion at the site root (for example site.com/nonexistantpage) I see my custom 404 error and everything looks correct.

    however if I go to a non-existant subpage without extension, I see the 404 page, but it tries to pull the App_Theme files relative to that folder.

    I've attached screen shots so you can see what I mean.

    as you can see both files are trying to load the theme css files from App_Themes/theme/ but only the root page is in the right location. the subpage remains as a subpage (instead of redirecting to 404.aspx at the root) so it's looking in that subpage subfolder, instead of the site root.

    This might just be a misconfiguration on my part, but I just can't figure out the right way to do it.

    Hi SelArom,

    This is happening because the custom error page request is being handled by IIS. After the request is passed to the necessary asp.net module, it is rewritten, rather than redirected. The output is the same, but the paths are relative to the current path (rewritten). Unfortunately this is something that we cannot control. There is a way to update all paths when the url is rewritten, but it seems that module responsible for the rewrite is not taking advantage of this approach. The module is external to Sitefinity.

    Solution 1:

    Use 302 Redirect, and provide the full url of the custom page. Please check my screenshot

    Solution 2:
    Set the 404 error in IIS to sf404.aspx, then set your custom error page through the web.config file.

    your second solution seems best, as that's what should be happening, right? I mean if a page is not found, then it doesn't matter what the url is, it should just return a 404 status code. however, what does sf404 do in the meantime, does it do a 302 redirect itself?

    here's the way I understand it:

    I navigation to site.com/subpage/nopage
    sitefinity issues a 302 redirect to sf404
    sf404 redirects to my custom 404.aspx (set in web.config)
    my 404 page returns status code 404

    is that right?

    is there any reason why this setup is a bad idea?

    thanks for your reply, this should surely solve my problem!

    Hello SelArom,

    sf404.aspx does not actually exists. Sitefinity is only looking for such requests, and knows that you have requested either an extensionless url, or there is page that does not exists. First, we check if the request will match any page from the sitemap, if not, we are taking a look in the custom errors and simply return 404 status with the error document. If there is no document, we pass the request to continue until it reaches the last module/handler. Eventually the request reaches the StaticFile handler and it usually returns the 404 error as well.

    Hi,

    If I am upgrading from 3.7 SP1 to SP2 is it just the dll's that are being replaced for the community.

    Hello Richard Warner,

    The bin folders for the community edition and the standard edition are different. Also the web.config files are
    different and you should make the appropriate changes. The upgrade patches contain sample web.config file.

    Hello Richard Warner,

    By default the backend is translated in English and the localization resourced are embedded into dlls. If you need to translate the backend to a different language we could send you not compiled version of the embedded resources that you could translate.

    You could take a look at  the this link to download all localization resources that we currently have.
