    Hello,

I understand Nolics is on its way out and OpenAccess is on its way in. When are you expecting this to happen? I don't see it in the Roadmap for 4.0.

    Thanks,
    Jeff

    Hi Jeff,

We will migrate to OpenAccess in Sitefinity 4.0 indeed. We are in process of updating our Roadmap.
    I apologize for the inconvenience.

    Thanks for the update Georgi.

I wish I would have known this before I spent considerable time learning Nolics in December and January. :(

If I am starting to develop some new modules for Sitefintiy then should I use OpenAccess then? It sounds to me like I should, but I do not want to spend weeks developing modules with OpenAccess just to find out that there would be major overhauls when 4.0 came out.

Also any updates on 4.0 beta or release date yet?

    Thank you!

    Hi Garry Clark,

The first CTPs or betas should be out in the middle of this year, sometime around the Q2.
We are not using Nolics anymore, and are currently transferring the code base to OpenAccess. If I would be developing Sitefinity modules, I would start learning OpenAccess from now :)

    Sincerely yours,
    Georgi

    Georgi,

If I develop a module using the lastest OpenAccess release will it work under the next version of Sitefinity OpenAcess?
If not, I will just hold off.

    Thanks,
    David

    Hi David ,

We are currently working on Sitefinity 4.0 with the latest version of Telerik Open Access. However by the time we release the official version of Sitefinity 4.0 we might have updated the version of OA. However I do not think that this should stop you from developing a module using Open Access, as when we release Sitefinity 4.0 you can just upgrade the version that your module is using.
