    Hi Brian,

Version 3.2 is planned for the 28 of January next year (2008) while there is no date for version 4.0 but perhaps it would be out around July.

    Hi Vassil,

Will v3.x sites be 'upgradable' to v4.x?

When sitefinity v3.0 was released, we found it to be extremely difficult to upgrade our v2.7 sites since we had to migrate all site information manually. This approach isn't practical, so I'd hope it doesn't happen again with v4.

    Thanks,
    Kevin.

Don't worry, Kevin, we'll do our best to ensure a seamless upgrade this time. If not fully automated, it won't require any manual migration of information and you certainly won't need to redo the entire site the way it was with v 2.7.
The difficult part is over :)

Is v3.2 still going to be released on the 28th? We are about to finish up with a site and I would rather launch it with v3.2 than 3.1 and then upgrade.

Thanks for any info you can provide.

Is there anyway that you can post so screen shots of what the document module will look like (sample administration/sample public).  Can you also do the same for the Events & Photo Gallery?

I am developing multiple projects using Sitefinity and I am looking forward to these enhancements to fill in the gaps and I would like to see what I should expect so that I can start visualizing what I can do with my projects.

    Dear Richie,

Please find attached the prototypes for the Images & Documents Module. It will include 2 public controls - Image Gallery and Download List
. The Download List will be available in two views, both as lists and tables. All files and images will be stored in the database.

The Events module will provide a streamlined way for announcing events. Events will be displayed in several ways (list, calendar, scheduler view). The Events module will also support visual scheduling of events directly on a calendar, drag-and-drop rescheduling and built-in geomapping of the event’s location.

I hope that answers your questions.

    Best Regards,

    Thanks!  This looks great.

I see that the image gallery will allow you to set the maximum size of your Thumbnail, does it actually resize the thumbnail image?  Is there a way to set the maximum size of the full-size image?

    Thanks again.

    Hi Richie,

The Thumbnail functionality creates a copy of the original image in the database with the specified thumbnail size.
At the moment, there is no functionality to set the maximum size of the full-size image. This is a good idea, though, and we added it to our list of future enhancements.

    Thanks for contributing!

    Hi,
I'd like to ask if there's more information about the new Sitefinity 4.0? What improvements it's going to have and are there any new things included?

    Thanks,
    Angel

I think some of that can be answered by reviewing the roadmap http://www.sitefinity.com/product/roadmap.aspx

that looks impressive. I'm especially excited about the silverlight stuff...

you don't mention time frames in that document, and you KNOW someone is gonna ask about it

but what I would really like to know is if you are planning any interim releases to handle all of these known issues from 3.2. If i recall 4.0 isn't expected until early next year, but a lot of these issues could use another sp release.

that aside, thanks for making this page publicly available!

    hi,

I don't actually work for Telerik/Sitefinity. I just knew about the roadmap and replied.

I too would like to know the updated release schedule for v4 which is something I asked a few messages back with no reply from Sitefinity as yet.

btw if you click on the Product link the Roadmap link is on the left navigation section.
