    Hi there,

We're planning an upgrade from 3.6 to 3.7 SP3 and we need to clarify a few things.
We have two sets of servers one for development one for production. We're planning to do the upgrade on the development servers first followed by testing and then deploying this to the production environment.

During upgrade is the database changed in any way?

I ask this because I need to know if we should do a production DB backup and restore to the dev environment first. If no DB changes are made then we only need to upgrade the application files and copy them across or is that not the case?

    Regards,
    Jacques

    Hi J.Hoventer,

There are small changes in the database tables which are not structural , but they are performed during the upgrade from Nolics. You do not have to manually made any changed to the database. The websites you have should be upgraded in dev environment - files merging and database upgrade. Then you need to upload the upgraded project ( all files and folders ) to the production server. Afterwords, restore a backup copy of the upgraded database to the production server and run the project.

This is not recommended, because it something goes wrong you will corrupt the production database. Upgraded are performed only in dev environment.

    Sincerely yours,
