I have a few questions/comments about image upload in the generic content control.  If I am mistaken, please correct me.

    1) If I am just uploading an image to put on a page for the layout, I understand how to change directories, but how do you create a new directory?  It is very important that I am able to create directories to separate my images.   I that I can click on "Select from already uploaded images" and then click on files and add a directory, but I have also been using SF for a year now.  There should be a way to easily create a directory from the first upload an image panel.

    Please advise.

    1. Hi,

When you use the Image Manager (or Document Manager) in the Generic Content control, you can easily create new folders. Here's how I do it:

    Using the Generic content control:

    1. Click the Image Manager icon to open the Image Manager

    2. Browse the existing folders to where you want to create the new subfolder (Make sure you are under the "Browse Files" tab.)

    3. Click the "New Folder" icon, which is right next to the Trash Can icon (just above the list of existing folders.

    4. Enter a name for the new folder in the field that appears

    5. Click the "check mark" button save the folder.

You now have a new folder on the server to which you can upload as usual.

    Hope this helps.

    Please advise.

    Thanks.

My mistake, I'm using 3.1 SP2. Didn't realize you were referring to 3.2

I opened the beta 3.2 and see what you mean about this issue. I think it is mostly because SF uses the Prometheus Image Manager tool now which has changed functionality.

You can turn on the old image manager, which I did read about here:
    http://www.sitefinity.com/support/forums/support-forum-thread/b1043S-bcgecb.aspx

But that doesn't really help if you want to use the image library module. Sorry for the confusion.

    Hello medicalwebgeek,

Kevin is talking about the original RadEditor Image Manager dialog, while you are talking about our new Insert an Image dialog that is enabled by default in v3.2.
You can have a look at my reply to this thread for more details about the two tools and instructions about enabling them:
    Thumbnails in 3.2.?!

You are right that the create new folder option is somewhat hidden, having to pass through so many steps and starting from a link (Select from already uploaded images) that doesn't even hint at any such possibility.
Indeed, there should be a more conspicuous option to create a new folder, as well as a new library, from the Insert an Image dialog and we'll consider your suggestion, of course.
However, your end users (content writers) would hardly care about the particular folder/library to which their image is going on upload. They'll just need to insert that image in that news article, won't they? And Generic Content was first meant for them :)

Thank you very much again for your involvement. It really helps us make Sitefinity a better product.

    All the best,
    Rebecca
