When is the v4.0 being released? I understand there are substantial differences from the current release, so I am waiting to learn and implement on the new architecture. Any word or clues on this?

    Hello bemara57,

Most probably the release will be in the middle of June. We have not scheduled a certain date yet. We are working on some bare bones articles that will post on our website or in the forum in a month.

    Kind regards,
    Ivan Dimitrov

    Hi richard van der Helm,

The beta version will be available for downloading as we did with 3.6. This will allow you to share your feedback, report some bugs.

    Hi Philip Saltskog,

Unfortunately not - we will have a CTP probably in two months or so, and a beta after that.

    Hi Telerik,
...oups, it sounds as if we visualize many changes ;-)
So I have to start evaluating with 3.6.
An important feature of my future application will be the possibility to give each person an own public site (analog to a "business card") without great configuration and authorisation tasks (something like "MySite" in SharePoint).
Is this possible with the existing version of Sitefinity?

    Best regards,
    Andreas

    Hi Andreas Kaech,

First, thank you for your interest in our CMS.

Generally, everything is possible. Now seriously - I think this will be easily achieved with Sitefinity. Here are two scenarios that I came up with:
    1. One web page per person. You can have one master page (defining the structure of the page) and several themes (defining the look and feel). Every page will represent one business card or a person profile. Additionally, you might use the Pages API to assign a master page, theme and to add controls automatically to the newly created pages.

    2. Several web pages for a person. You might use the Group pages approach, and create a page groups for everyone. Everything from above is valid for the page groups as well - you have master pages, themes, controls which can be added programmatically or predefined (via the template option).

Let me know about the details, I will be happy to follow up with additional suggestions or scenarios.

    All the best,
    Georgi

    Hi Bernardo,

We will try to come up with a beta at the end of August.  You will be able to download 4.0 beta from your account >> download section. We will post a announcement on Sitefinity.com when we are done with the implementation.

    Best wishes,

Hello - Would anyone happen to know if Sitefinity 3.6 will be "upgradable" to 4.0?  Meaning will sites currently running on 3.6 be run through a conversion process to bring them up to the 4.0 data model?  Also will simple modules based on the "Simple Custom Module" example generally be expected to work?

    Thank you

    Hello sean2078,

You will be able to upgrade 3.6 projects to 4.0 - basic installation and custom modules as well. Speaking for the database data - it will be fully backward compatible.

    Best wishes,

    Hello Donald,

Thank you for using our services.

Our current plans are to have a CTP and a Beta version in the last months of this year, and if everything goes smoothly to release Sitefinity 4.0 early next year. However I can not probive you with any concrete dates.

I hope that this answers your question.

    Kind regards,
