    I am trying to post our annual report to our website. We are trying something new, and have created a flash file with dynamic content and embedded videos.  The embedded videos will not play on our website.

    http://www.cmnh.org/site/GetInvolved/SupporttheMuseum/AnnualReport/09AnnualRpt.aspx has the flash file embedded in the page, as well as a link to the swf file.  The video files are uploaded, and the file structure is correct. If I open the swf from an ftp window, the video plays.  However, it won't play on our website.

    Our PR firm set up a test page, and the video works there, so I know my browser isn't to blame.

    Is there some code or a control that I need to upload to make this work?  We spent a lot of time and money on the annual report, and would like people to be able to view the associated videos.

    Thanks for your help.

    Hi heather r,

    The problem seems to be in the swf file you have on http://www.cmnh.org. I created a simple test with the file from http://www.impactfiles.com/clients/CMNH/test/CMNH%20Annual09.swf and there are not any problems to play this file at my end.

    Here is my code

    <object width="150" height="150" classid="clsid:D27CDB6E-AE6D-11cf-96B8-444553540000">
    <param name="play" value="true"/>
    <param name="quality" value="high"/>
    <param name="wmode" value="transparent"/>
    <param name="loop" value="false"/>
    <param name="menu" value="false"/><embed srchttp://www.impactfiles.com/clients/CMNH/test/CMNH%20Annual09.swf" width="800" height="800" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" pluginspage="http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer" quality="high" wmode="transparent" loop="false" menu="false"></embed></object>

    Best wishes,

    Hi Ivan, thanks for your help.

    The flash files should be the same in both places, but just in case I downloaded the file from Impact and uploaded it to our website.

    I copied and pasted your code into our page, and unfortunately the video still does not play in my browser (or on those of the other computers I have checked).  That said, the video started playing in the editing window.

    The flash file works, and will play on our ftp site; I just can't get it to play on our website

    Thanks for any insights you have.

    Hello heather r,

    Create a simple master page - without any css and js and add the same code from the previous post. Then see whether the video is playing. There could be something in your master page that breaks the flash object. I am not able to reproduce any problem with this locally.

    Sincerely yours,

    Thanks, Ivan.

    I created a blank page, and it works if I link to the file that our PR firm host is hosting.  If I link to the files on our site, the videos refuse to play.

    I'll start poking around the master code to see what I can find.

    Thanks for your help,
    heather
