    I am not using the newsletter functionality at this time, but would like to.  My concern is that if we send out a letter to 2000 alumni (subscribers) it will be treated as spam by mail providers.  We have had this happen in the past with another product and have been using Constant Contact since.

    Can you briefly explain how you send mail without causing the sender to look like a spammer?  Do you send individual emails every few seconds, or is there some other "magic"? Can I be confident that we can send out mail without being blacklisted?

    Any input is appreciated.

    Hello Stormy,

    It is possible that if you send 2000 e-mails at once, the smtp server could block you. There is a "magic" property in Sitefinity though, so you could prevent this. The interval in which the mails are sending can be configured.

    Open your web.config file, and find the following section:
    <notifications defaultProvider="Notifications"
          <providers>
            <clear />
            <add name="Notifications"
    type="Telerik.Notifications.Data.DefaultProvider, Telerik.Notifications.Data" connectionStringName="DefaultConnection"
    EnableSsl="false"
    MergedFields="FirstName;LastName"
    SendingInterval="1000"
    ConfirmUnsubscriptionUrl="~/goodbye.aspx" />
          </providers>
        </notifications>

    SendingInterval is in milliseconds.

    Let me know if you have any further questions.

    Sincerely yours,
    Georgi

    Does the sendingInterval mean that one email will be sent every nnnn milliseconds?

    By default, are emails sent one at a time?

    Hi Stormy,

    That's correct - one email will be sent every nnnn milliseconds. The default value is 1000ms, which means that the e-mails are not sent at once, but 1 email per second.

    All the best,
    Georgi
