    Hi,

    We need to have a small workflow for users. The users should be able to register by themselves, but will not be able to login unless authenticated by the admin of the site. Once the user is authenticated, an email needs to be sent to the user that he/she has be authenticated.

    We have managed to solve the authentication part, but we are not able to make any progress in sending emails. Can I get some pointers on how to achieve this?

    Best regards,
    Gops.

    Hello Ivan,

    Thanks for the reply. The 2nd url "Locked out user accounts" definitely helped us, but not completely. What I meant in my original post was that the admin of the site should be able to activate the user. Once the user is activated, an email is sent to the user that his account was activated and that he could login into the site now.

    We have solved the activation part, but not the subsequent email sending to the user. Is there any way we could achieve this?

    Regards,
    Gopinath

    Hello Gopinath BR,

    You could create a new button - ActivateUser with a command name and send the email once the user has been activated.

    void Grid_RowCommand(object sender, GridViewCommandEventArgs e)
    {
        if (e.CommandName == "ActivateUser")
        {

            MembershipUser user = Membership.GetUser(e.CommandArgument.ToString());
            if (user != null)
            {
                user.IsApproved = true;
                Membership.UpdateUser(user);
                // here send an email
                SmtpClient client = new SmtpClient();
                // other logic goes here
            }
        }
    }

    Best wishes,
