    Hi,

I've developed a few intra-site modules in my application developed in Sitefinity 3.7 Standard Edition SP3. I was trying to implement security for one of those modules as demonstrated in the post http://www.sitefinity.com/devnet/forums/sitefinity-3-x/developing-with-sitefinity/securing-an-intra-site-module.aspx. I also downloaded the sample real estate module provided with that post. But somehow Its not working with me. The problem is as soon as I inherit my module from Telerik.Security.Permissions.SecuredModule, the module is not shown on the main navigation menu in the admin interface (under "Modules").

Any clue why is this happening ?

    Thanks,
    Saumitra

    Hi Saumitra,

Most probably you have not implemented the permissions properly or there is a silent error thrown in  App_Data/Sitefinity.log file which prevents the module from showing.
You can take a look at these posts where you will find sample project and descriptive description of Sitefinity Permission classes and how the permissions work.

    Hi Ivan,

Still not clear about how do I go about implementing security my intra-site modules. Firstly, the code snippets mentioned in those posts are related to pluggable modules. Not sure whether they would work the same for Intra-site modules. They are also slightly different from the code provided in the Real Estate sample project. Secondly, there is no step-by-step guidance for creating all the required classes for implementing security for intra-site modules.

Can you provide me a step-by-step guidance / documentation on creating / extending the required classes for implementing security for Intra-Site modules ?

    Thanks,
    Saumitra

    Hi,

Forgot the mention one thing. There was no error thrown by the application in the Sitefinity Log.

By the way, any updates on this. Its a bit urgent. I need to get this security stuff working ASAP.

    Thanks,
    Saumitra

    Hi,

I wanted to know how can I set full permissions by default for a role to the custom Intra-site module that I've developed ?

    Thanks,
    Saumitra

I'd love to know this as well...I've spent the past two days trying to accomplish this. I've been able to implement security on GenericContent based module but not on just a plain custom module without inheriting from GenericContent.
