    Hi...

I am trying to figure out the proper way to handle security in sitefinity.
Ive read through the documentation, but haven't been able to ascertain how I accomplish the following:

I want a user to be able to login and when he/she goes to Pages, the tree menu on the left will only show the pages that that user can edit.

I am trying to do this so that it simplifies the users experience.  I dont want them having to dig through lots of pages to find the ones they can work with.

Please let me know if this is possible...  ?

    Thanks,

    Hi Michael Waters,

In the TreeView on the left users see only the pages for which they have permissions - at least View. There they can browse and edit only the pages for which they have rights. A user can edit a page in case there is "Modify" right set to "Allow", but there is not an event or possible way to replace the SiteMap RadTreeView control in the backend and change its default behavior.

    All the best,

    Ivan,

I cannot get it to show on the left.

    I have a role called "CM-UsedTrucks"

My page structure is as below:

All Pages  (permissions Denied for everything)
    - Products  (permissions set to Allow View and Deny the rest)
    --- New Trucks
--- Used Trucks  (permissions set to Allow View and Edit, etc.)

All I can see when logged in under a user with this "CM-UsedTrucks" role on the Tree is "All Pages".

In the listing on the right, I can see All the pages and can edit the Used Trucks, but cannot see anything in the Tree.

    What am I doing wrong?

    Thanks,

    Hello Michael Waters,

I am not able to reproduce this issue. Check whether the is some page inheritance and if so break it. Make sure that the user you use does not belong to different roles with different rights for a given permission.

I attached a sample screencast that you can watch. I used Sitefinity 3.7 SP3.

    Ivan,

see the attached screens of all the setups.

I have this issue on two different sites that I setup when testing this.

Are you telling me that it works fine for you ?

    Thanks,

    Ivan,

I think I figured it out...

I had to break the inheritence for the Products page and make sure the CM-UsedTrucks role had View access to it.

For some reason, if I did not break inheritence on the products page, even though I had given CM-UsedTrucks View access, it would not work.

    Thanks,

    Hi Michael Waters,

This is what I also thought
"I am not able to reproduce this issue. Check whether the is some page inheritance and if so break it."
