How do I set what role(s) that have permission to edit shared content?
I can't seem to find that setting although I feel like I've run across it before.
Currently only our "administrators" can do this, but since we are using a central roles database, "administrators" extends between multiple sites and apps.  For example, I would like cmsMeritAdmins, a role we defined for a certain Sitefinity instance, to be able to edit shared content.

    thanks in advance!

    Hello Scott Rozman,

The users role that is associated with your user need Modify permission set for the provider.

I found my problem. I had already set the correct "allow" checkboxes, however I left the user in the cmsMeritEditor role when I added them to the cmsMeritAdmin role.
Sitefinity seems to use the least powerful role when the user is assigned to multiple roles... something that is easy to forget, since it is opposite of how typical permissions work on a file system.
