I'm using the Community edition, SQL Server 2005, and I imported the tables into my existing database.

I forgot to add, this happens on the http://localhost/testrpg/sitefinity/cmsstartup.aspx page, after the Set Database page.

Never mind. One error after another means I'm going to have to find another solution. There's far too little documentation on how to implement Sitefinity with an existing database that uses the .NET membership provider.

I wish this was a little easier to get up and running, because it looks cool.

I made some changes in the web.config to get past that problem. I was using the wrong provider, if I remember correctly. My problems continued beyond that. It seemed there might be additional changes I needed to make to the web.config to get your program to use your tables in my database, but I couldn't figure out what those might be. (I know more about database stuff than I know about web stuff, but I don't know an exceptional amount about either.)

It might help if you create a few SQL scripts that could be used to import your database, including your pre-populated data. (As an example, GraffitiCMS includes scripts to populate the .NET membership provider and create their software's tables.)

    Hello DeadlyAccurate,

In fact, you can easily create a new project which is using the previously set database. At the second step of the project setup wizard (Go to administer your project), you are prompted to chose the type of the database and its version. This is where you can point to the name of the old database. Sitefinity creates its tables over the other files. Every time you access the web site, the application uses the necessary information from the original DB.

For more information, please check the Creating Projects section from the User Manual.

Hope that the provided information is helpful. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any other questions.

    Sincerely yours,
