    I'm having a bit of an issue with pushing a site out to a production web server.

    I manually installed the site using the blank template and proceeded to create a single page to verify proper installation.  This works properly on my local machine.

    Now if I push the entire directory out to production, I am able to administer the site but if I try to view a content page, I receive an erroneous error in IE and the following error in FF:

    Firefox has detected that the server is redirecting the request for this address in a way that will never complete.

    What is the most likely culprit for this issue?

    A few more details:

    My local dev environment is Server 2003.

    My prod environment is Server 2008 running as a virtual directory underneath a Sharepoint installation (with a <location inheritInChildApplications="false"> element defined around <system.web>).

    My back end is SQL 2000.

    We are using the .NET 3.5 runtime.

    Hello Pete,

    Check out the following link where some of the reasons for this error are described. Does the problem persists if you try to access the website as separate virtual directory or website under IIS.

    Thanks for the link Ivan, I'll look in to the browser-specific message.  My hope was to glean more information about the error from FF then I am from IE, but apparently that's not going to work...

    The error is occurring on my production server where SF has been placed in it's own virtual directory underneath an existing IIS website.  It is also of note that the production server employs SSL.

    I believe I just solved my own question.  Apparently I needed to find the "Require SSL" checkbox on the page properties in order for the page to display.

    This is a good thing!  However, it also leads to a follow up question:  Can I force all user-created pages to automagically enable the Require SSL property?

    Hi Pete,

    Create a code behind on PageProperties template located under ~/Sitefinity/Admin/ControlTemplates/Pages and add the logic below:

        protected override void Render(HtmlTextWriter writer)
        {
            ssl.SelectedValue = "1"
            base.Render(writer);
        }

    Thus, Require SSL will set to yes by default. Another option is using js. I hope this helps.

    Best wishes,
    Ivan Dimitrov
