We recently took over a site using Sitefinity 3.2.  We are trying to set up a staging site.  So we copied the prod database and restored in staging, created a project, took the existing site and copied it into the location where the project was created.  so now when we go to http://localhost/Project1 it works, but when I go to http://localhost/Project1/Sitefinity i can log in, and get the dashboard.  When i click on Pages, Modules, Administration, and My Preferences I get completely blank pages.

    Hello Jason Perron,

This is really a strange problem and I must say we have never encountered it. Could you please send us the screenshots of the empty pages so we can further investigate the possible causes of the problems.

Thank you in advance for your understanding.

    All the best,
    Ivan

This is the source in IE:

    <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.0 Transitional//EN">
    <HTML><HEAD>
    <META content="text/html; charset=windows-1252" http-equiv=Content-Type></HEAD>
    <BODY></BODY></HTML>

Firefox shows nothing with Firebug showing a zero byte response.

When we put the default site which is created by the Create Project in the same place, those pages actually show the correct info from the database (the pages I would expect with the correct site in place and not the default site)

    Hi Jason Perron,

Unfortunately, we have no idea what could cause this problem. Is it possible for you to send us your project so we could investigate it locally? You can do it in a new support ticket.

Well we finally figured out what was causing the blank pages.  We turned the AppSetting DebugMode flag to true, and it actually showed us the exception which was being thrown instead of a blank page.  The problem was that, being a compiled app, none of the ascx files were copied over when the site was compiled.  So copying over the asc files (and a couple of other things) fixed the problem.
