    Hi,

I have just installed the Community edition on to a development machine running Windows CP SP3.  I can load Sitefinity OK, but when I try to create the sample website I get an error:

The process cannot access the file 'C:\Program Files\telerik\Sitefinity3.6 Community\WebSites\TIUSite_v3.6_SP1\Sitefinity\Admin\Themes\Default\Images\PlusSmall.gif' because it is being used by another process.

Initially I thought it was because I needed to reset my machine after installation, which I did.  After resetting the error takes longer to come up, and is different to the initial one.

Have I missed a step somewhere?  Looked at the Installation guide but does not seem to mention any other steps.  I just installed from the exe, restarted machine and opened Sitefinity.

    Hello David Penny,

We use Xceed's zip library to extract the <SF install path>\ProjectManager\App_Data\EmptyProject.zip file. As you can see from the log, Xceed encounters some error. Since I cannot reproduce it, here is what you can do:
    • Extract the same .zip file to a sub-directory of <SF install path>\WebSites, e.g. "SF_Test"
    • make sure that NETWORK SERVICES user has full access to the directory  (this should be inherited by sub-directories of WebSites)
    • Go to IIS Manager and add a new virtual application that uses the directory you just created
These are the steps that the project manager does. If you reproduce them, you will end up with having a fully functional Sitefinity site.

We are currently working on a much improved project manager for 4.0. If you have some feature suggestions about its functionality, now is the time.

    Regards,
    Dido

    Hi Dido,

    Many thanks for the response.

I have actually tried the install on my other machine and it works fine there, so obviously an issue with my main computer.

I'm happy enough doing my evaluation on the backup machine.

    Hello David Penny,

You can try using unlocker - there are several programs you could find after google for "unlocker". The program show you which files are being used by any process. There are options for terminating the process as well.

    All the best,
