I followed the notes on installing sitefinity on IIS7.

    I get this error:

CREATE DATABASE permission denied in database 'master'.
An attempt to attach an auto-named database for file C:\inetpub\wwwroot\removed.com\App_Data\Sitefinity.mdf failed. A database with the same name exists, or specified file cannot be opened, or it is located on UNC share.

The file is present in the folder.

    Thanks for any help.

    Bill

    Hello Bill Deihl,

The error message states that you do not have needed permissions to perform this action. Please open SQL management studio and check if there are any attached databases with the same name. Also, add NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM user as a owner of the database. Generally, the database named master is the default database for the server.

    Hi Bill,

    Follow these steps:

    • 1. Open SQL Server Management Studio
    • 2. Expand the databases folder
    • 3. Expand your database, security folder and then right click on the users folder
    • 4. In the dialog that pops up, click on the ellipsis next to the login box.
    • 5. Double click on the NT Authority\System
    • 6. Under owned schemas and Role Members, click db_Owner
    • 7. Under Start > Programs > SQL Server 2005 > Configuration Tools select SQL Server 2005 Surface Area Configuration
    • 8. Click on Surface Area Configuration for Services and Connections
    • 9. Under the Database Engine section, click the stop button and then click start. This will restart the SQL Server 2005 application and the new login you created will take effect
    • 10. Restart your Sitefinity application and do the install.
