    Dears Sirs,
I work on Microsoft Windows Vista x64 Ultimate SP2 with Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 SP1 installed.
    My account is Administrator.
I have followed the instructions step by step as showed at http://www.sitefinity.com/support/installation-guide.aspx .
After installing the file "Sitefinity_3_7_1990_standard_trial.exe" (Sitefinity Standard Edition 3.7 - August 10, 2009),
    I face the following problems:

    1) if I use default port 80 I cannot access http://localhost/telerik/Sitefinity3.7 , instead assigning another port (from IIS7) works (e.g.: http://localhost:11000/telerik/Sitefinity3.7).

    2) if I connect to http://localhost:11000/telerik/Sitefinity3.7 it pops up a login form where I must insert login and password. Then, if press ESC it shows me: "HTTP Error 401.2 - Unauthorized".

    Could you please help me?
Thank you very much in advance.
    Best Regards.
    Sergio

    Hello Sergio,

    1) if I use default port 80 I cannot access http://localhost/telerik/Sitefinity3.7 , instead assigning another port (from IIS7) works (e.g.: http://localhost:11000/telerik/Sitefinity3.7).

This could be caused if your default 80 port is used by another program. You can use Fport to see all open TCP/IP and UDP ports or reconfigure your application pool settings.

    2) if I connect to http://localhost:11000/telerik/Sitefinity3.7 it pops up a login form where I must insert login and password. Then, if press ESC it shows me: "HTTP Error 401.2 - Unauthorized"

It is related to IIS settings. Anonymous authentication is disabled and probably Windows so that you are requested to authenticate yourself using your Widows credentials. You can gather more information about installation process at SitefinityWatch

    Hi Ivan,

    1) Fport doesn't work on Vista, can you suggest another application?
    2) I have followed the video tutorial **step by step** (http://www.sitefinitywatch.com/blog.aspx?BlogTagID=5cd218c5-30c3-47be-a299-f742c3595e33) but It still asks me the credentials!
I have noticed a difference: after the installation, in the video I see that under "Default Web Site" there is a folder named "aspnet_client" which I don't see in my IIS7. Do you think this is the problem?

    Thanks again for Your support.
    Best Regards,
    Sergio

    Hi Sergio,

    1. You can use netstat command through cmd or google for another software.
    2. If you apply your credentials are you able to proceed. Have you tried enabling AnonymousAuthentication?
aspnet_client folder is used for storing  Javascript, which ASP.NET uses. It also has icons and scripts required by crystal reports to run properly, but I do not think that the missing folder could be a problem.

    Hi Ivan,

    1. I have used "Netstat -abn" and I see IE8 using that port, I cannot understand why on IIS6 this problem didn't occur, anyway I'll use another port.
    2. If I put the user and password of my account I cannot log in. I have tried enabling AnonymousAuthentication and I don't see the login form anymore but I get this error:

HTTP Error 404.17 - Not Found

The requested content appears to be script and will not be served by the static file handler.

    What can I do?
Thank You very much for Your help.
    Regards,
    Sergio

    Hi Sergio,

Are you using a 64-bit OS? If so can you please make sure that you have enabled 32-bit applications in the settings of your application pool. If you have not, please do so to resolve the issue. Refer to attached image on what exact setting you will have to change.

    Kind regards,

    Dear Rado,
thank you very much for your help, now it works!!!
I think this issue is very critical and perhaps it would be a good idea to add it to the SiteFinityWatch tutorial.
    Best Regards!
    Sergio
