    Hi there,

Quick question - is it possible to limit the output of the news listing control by tag? Equally, is it possible to do the reverse and exlude news items with a specified tag?

Apologies if this is an easy one - I'm a Sitefinity novice!

    Cheers,

    Steve

    Hi Steve .,

When you open NewsView control for editing and go to Advanced tab there is a section of properties called Filters. There is a property FilterExpression  that you can use to filter all items by Tag.Name.

    Kind regards,

    Hi Ivan,

Thanks for getting back to me - can you confirm what versions of Sitefinity FilterExpression is available in? I'm not seeing it in my install.

Are you equally able to apply FilterExpressions to category / tag cloud lists?

    Thanks,

    Steve

    Hi Steve .,

The property should be available since Sitefinity 3.5 release. If you use Sitefinity 3.6 or 3.7 you should see this property for sure ( you can check our demo website at demo.sitefinity.com)

Categories Tree /TagsList controls are not IFilterable controls and datasource of these controls cannot be filtered out of the box. You will have to create a custom control in this cases. Here is a sample code for CategoriesTree control that illustrates filtering by blog post.
