    I am currently evaluating 3.2 and noticed the Max file size allowed 204800 bytes when trying to upload a flash or media file.  Is it possible to change/increase the limit in the Media/Flash manager?
    thank you,
    KE

    Hello Kamal,

    All RadEditor dialogs have a MaxUploadFileSize property that gets/sets the maximum file size in bytes, allowed for uploading. The default value is 2048000 bytes. To change it, you should set a new value for the MaxUploadFileSize property in the RadEditor declaration. For example:

    <telerik:RadEditor
        runat="server"
        ID="RadEditor1"
        ContentAreaCssFile="~/Sitefinity/Admin/Themes/Default/AjaxControlsSkins/Sitefinity/EditorContentArea.css"
        ToolsFile="~/Sitefinity/Admin/ControlTemplates/EditorToolsFile.xml"
        EnableEmbeddedSkins="False" Skin="Sitefinity"
        NewLineBr="False"
        Height="360px"
        Width="98%">
        <ImageManager ViewPaths="~/Images" UploadPaths="~/Images" DeletePaths="~/Images" />
        <MediaManager ViewPaths="~/Files" UploadPaths="~/Files" DeletePaths="~/Files" MaxUploadFileSize="307200" />
        <FlashManager ViewPaths="~/Files" UploadPaths="~/Files" DeletePaths="~/Files" MaxUploadFileSize="307200" />

    Also, please note that Sitefinity controls globally maximum request size through the project web.config:

     <system.web>
        <!-- Sets the allowed upload file size -->
        <httpRuntime maxRequestLength="51200" />
     ...

    For more information on maxRequestLength property, please refer to th following MSDN article.

    Hope the information is helpful.

    All the best,

    I can't find anything in the v3.1 web.config for Max length.

    Can I add it or is it somewhere else?

    Also what is the file path to the user control you provided the code sample from?

    Hello Brian,

    Sitefinity v3.1 uses the default maximum file upload size (4096 KB). That is why maxRequestLength attribute is not set explicitly in the project web.config file. But you can configure HTTP runtime settings by yourself. To achieve this you should add <httpRuntime> element in <system.web> section and set maxRequestLength attribute to the required value.

    Regarding the example, it is valid for Sitefinity v3.2 and later and can be found in ~/Sitefinity/Admin/ControlTemplates/Generic_Content/EditorTemplate.ascx template. The same template in previous versions of Sitefinity is rather different because they use classic RadEditor control in contrast with v3.2 that is shipped with RadEditor for ASP.NET AJAX.

    Also, note that to increase maximum file size for classic RadEditor in Sitefinity v3.1, you should open ~/Sitefinity/Admin/ControlTemplates/EditorConfigFile.xml file, find the following code and set the reguired values:

    <property name="MaxImageSize">204800</property>
    <property name="MaxFlashSize">102400</property>
    <property name="MaxMediaSize">5242880</property>
    <property name="MaxDocumentSize">512000</property>
    <property name="MaxTemplateSize">204800</property>

    Hi,

    I'm using  Version 3.6 and there is no ~/Sitefinity/Admin/ControlTemplates/Generic_Content/EditorTemplate.ascx template. Is there a different way to set the MaxUploadFileSize  in this version.

    Thanks

    Hi Kieran,

    In the 3.6 version, the file is Sitefinity\Admin\ControlTemplates\Generic_Content\GenericContentDesigner.ascx. Note that you should map it, in order to use it. Please take a look in the KB article How to map a view to an external template, in Sitefinity 3.6 or later? In case you wish to use the Generic Content control (not module), you should have the following definition in your configuration file:
    <viewmap>
    <viewSettings hostType="Telerik.Cms.Engine.WebControls.Design.GenericContentDesigner"
    layoutTemplatePath="~/Sitefinity/Admin/ControlTemplates/Generic_Content/GenericContentDesigner.ascx" />

    Sincerely yours,

    I'm trying to change the view path, upload path etc in my generic content control for the flash manager (and media manager) but having little luck so far.

    I'm assuming I'm supposed to use the GenericContentDesigner and have followed the instructions on how to map to an external template but it must be the wrong one cause nothings happening.

    A few hints would be welcome.

    Thanks.

    Hi Andreas,

    Unfortunately, we cannot reproduce any problem locally. Which version of Sitefinity do you use? Note that in the official release of v3.6, mapping to external templates does not work properly. Also, make sure you have followed the steps in the following KB: How to map a view to an external template, in Sitefinity 3.6 or later?
    If everything is properly set and the project is running v3.6 hotfix or v3.6 SP1, open a new support ticket and send us Telerik.Sitefinity.Configuration.ControlsConfig.xml file and GenericContentDesigner template to debug the issue locally.

    Best wishes,

    I followed these steps to try to increase my upload file size and it didn't work.

    I am using 3.6SP1 on my dev machine

    Here is the content from my /App_Data/Configuration/Telerik.Sitefinity.Configuration.ControlsConfig.xml file

    <?

    xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8" ?>

    <

    controlsConfig>

    <

    viewMap>

    <

    viewSettings hostType="Telerik.Cms.Engine.WebControls.Design.GenericContentDesigner"

    layoutTemplatePath="~/Sitefinity/Admin/ControlTemplates/Generic_Content/GenericContentDesigner.ascx" />

    </

    viewMap>

    </

    controlsConfig>

    And here are my lines from GenericContentDesigner.ascx

    <

    ImageManager ViewPaths="~/Images" UploadPaths="~/Images" DeletePaths="~/Images" MaxUploadFileSize="65000" />

    <MediaManager ViewPaths="~/Files" UploadPaths="~/Files" DeletePaths="~/Files" MaxUploadFileSize="204800" />

    <FlashManager ViewPaths="~/Files" UploadPaths="~/Files" DeletePaths="~/Files" MaxUploadFileSize="204800" />

    <DocumentManager ViewPaths="~/Files" UploadPaths="~/Files" DeletePaths="~/Files" MaxUploadFileSize="65000" />

    Hello Detroitj,

    You may need to recycle the App. Pool in order new settings to apply. Also this will work only for the "Generic Content" Public Control and not the Admin back-end.

    Thanks for the reply.  How do I increase the upload size for the controls in the admin area.  For example if I am creating a generic content module, or a list, I want to be able to upload large files from the media managers.

    Hi Detroitj,

    There should be two external templates file in "\Sitefinity\Admin\ControlTemplates\Generic_Content"
    The first is called "ContentNewView.ascx" the second "ContentEditView". In each of these files there are tags for the RadEditor Options. All you need is to edit the Flash Manager attributes like this:

    <FlashManager ViewPaths="~/Files" UploadPaths="~/Files" DeletePaths="~/Files" MaxUploadFileSize="204800" />

    and set MaxUploadFileSize to what value you wish.

    Kind regards,

    These files are not in the website currently.  I found them in the control templates download.  Do I need to create a mapping for them once I copy them over?  Or, will including the files have some kind of default behavior?

    Hi,

    I wanted to change the image MaxUploadFileSize in admin,

    I already added
    Sitefinity\Admin\ControlTemplates\Generic_Content\ContentEditView.ascx
    and
    Sitefinity\Admin\ControlTemplates\Generic_Content\App_LocalResources\ContentEditView.ascx.resx

    mapped ContentEditView in Telerik.Sitefinity.Configuration.ControlsConfig.xml
    <viewSettings hostType="Telerik.Cms.Engine.WebControls.Admin.ContentItemEdit`1[[Telerik.Cms.Engine.WebControls.Admin.ContentItemsView, Telerik.Cms.Engine]]" layoutTemplatePath="~/Sitefinity/Admin/Generic_Content/ContentEditView.ascx" />

    Did I miss anything?

    Thanks!

    Thanks for swift reply.

    But when I tried uploading an image much greater to max size inside Generic Content, no restrictions prompted.
    <ImageManager ViewPaths="~/Images" UploadPaths="~/Images" DeletePaths="~/Images" MaxUploadFileSize="1000" />

    That makes me feel ContentItemEdit isn't working.

    By the way, I already refreshed app pool.

    Hi RC,

    Which dialog you use? By default the RadEditor from ContentItemEdit works with a custom dialog and it does not use the default one. In Sitefinity/Admin/ControlTemplates/EditorToolsFile.xml you could switch the configuration

    from

    <tool name="LibraryImageManager" text="Insert an image"/>

    to

    <tool name="ImageManager" text="Insert an image"/>

    so that the RadEditor will start using the build in ImageManager instead of the custom one LibraryImageManager

    It worked Ivan! Thanks!

    But I used GenericContentDesigner instead
    <viewSettings hostType="Telerik.Cms.Engine.WebControls.Design.GenericContentDesigner" layoutTemplatePath="~/Sitefinity/ControlTemplates/Generic_Content/GenericContentDesigner.ascx" />

    Why is ContentEditView does not work with Generic Content RadEditor even though I logged in as admin?
    I thought it should be use on admin part?

    ContentEditView is a backend view. GenericContent control is used to show shared and not shared content on the frontend.
