    Hi there.

I've got some problem with the new SP 2-version (Sitefinity_3_7_2057) and MySQL-server.

I've been installing many Sitefinity sites since ver 3.5. But when i'm trying to connect to the database at Project Startup (using BlankProject) i'm receiving a error for the MySQL server.

But when i try the old version (Sitefinity_3_7_2022) with the same database i have no problems at all connecting and installing the database (but it takes me sometimes several (more then 15+) minutes to "checking for existing administrators" and "Updating" and login).

I've only copied the "Blank Project" files without any manipulation of the files/web.config etc.

Is it only me having this kind of problem?

    Kind Regards / Magnus

    Hi Magnus,

Installing project with MySql is slower than using SQL Server. What is the error you are getting? Are you getting the error on a completely new database?

Yeah, i've noticed the speed difference between SQL-Server and MySQL. But sometimes when i install a new project with MySQL it takes about 1-2 minutes and sometimes 15-20 or even more mintues. (and the mysql-process is eating all my memory by using about 50%). But that's another problem which might depend on my installation. Have reinstalled MySQL about 2-3 times the last year due this Sitefinity-matter.

    Well.. to my current problem.

    Having a MySQL server ver.5.1.11

and getting this problem using a new empty database with user privilages. (like i said before.. it works with Sitefinity_3_7_2022)

"There was an error trying to connect to the Database Server:
Det går inte att läsa in filen eller sammansättningen MySql.Data, Version=5.0.7.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=c5687fc88969c44d eller ett av dess beroenden. Den påträffade sammansättningens manifestdefinition matchar inte sammansättningsreferensen. (Undantag från HRESULT: 0x80131040)"

And i dont think you will understand swedish so i will do a translation on the swedish words:

"Could not load file or assembly MySQL.Data...........  or one of it's dependencies. The system cannot find the file specified"

All i can figure out myself is that it has something with the MySQL.Data.dll or the mysql-configuration in the web.config.. or am i misstaken?

I've only copied the files from the Blank Projects and used a new empty database.

    Hi Magnus,

Please replace the MySql.Data.dll with the attached one and try again. This is a know issue that will be fixed in SP3.

    All the best,

Ah. Thank you so much for the information.

This time it wasn't my fault atleast.  ;)

    Kind regards / Magnus.
