    Hi guys and gals,

This is my first time trying to setup a Sitefinity Website with MySQL  so I am a bit frustrated.

    I keep getting the error...

Could not load file or assembly 'MySQL.Data, Version 5.0.7.0, Culture=neutral....blah blah blah.... or one of its dependencies

The located assembly's manifest definition does not match the assembly reference.

I have downloaded MySQL 5.1 and installed it on my machine and am using MySQL Workbench 5.2 to configure the MySQL DB..(.It has changed a little since I last used MYSQL.)

Anyway this is a local machine and everything is setup with default settings.

Could use some help.  This is a Community Edition Site 3.7 and I am using the project manager to set up the site.  Is there a file that was not upgraded correctly in the Com Edition? I hope to convert to a full license sometime soon.

    Please help.

    Thanks In Advance!

    Hi bleutiger,

Thank you for using our services.

Could you please check your bin directory? There should be an assembly with MySql.Data.dll with version 5.0.7.0. This is the one used by the Nolics ORM. If you have a different assembly version there you should make a binding redirect to the other version.

    Best wishes,

Yes I have that dll in the Bin but it is file version 6.0.3.0.

Can you give me detailed instructions on what I need to change.

Also how do I fix the project manager so that it corrects this automatically.

    Hello bleutiger,

Could you try to use the attached dll in the bin of your project and replace the existing MySqlData.dll? There was a similar bug in one of the previous versions. The issue should not persist in the latest official release Sitefinity 3.7 SP3.

    That did the trick!  Thanks!

So do I need to reinstall Sitefinity with the exe installer from the latest 3.7 release in order to fix this on future projects?

    Hello bleutiger,

If you have just started you could install the latest official version - Sitefinity 3.7 SP3.

Well actually I have been using sitefinity for about 1 1/2 years and have upgraded to Sitefinity 3.7.

I dont want to lose my current projects in the project manager.  How could I go about doing a clean install and keeping my current projects?

    Hello bleutiger,

You could patch existing single projects - Upgrade Instructions. The ProjectManager cannot be patched. You could try installing the latest executable version over the existing one, but most probably you will lose some data. Another option would be replacing the problematic dll with this one I set you in all projects under
    C:\Program Files\Telerik\Sitefinity3.7\ProjectManager.

There is an archive under C:\Program Files\Telerik\Sitefinity3.7\ProjectManager\App_Data which you could unzip, change the dll and then zip it again. The same applies for TIUSite.zip

    Thanks guys,

I think I saw an earlier post about updating the dll in the zip file.  I will give that a try if I need to.  As of right now everything is working and now that I know what to do and have the correct dll it really isn't that big of a deal.

Thanks again for a great product.
