I am trying to set up SiteFinity 3.5 on a virtual hosted machine.  The host machine already had SQL Express 2005 installed and it does not conform to the .\sqlexpress convention.  Now, I cannot seem to get the site set up.  I can get the project screen to create the site, but I cannot go from there as the cmsstartup page hangs on the SQL connection.  I simply thought that I could open the created project and change the connection string, but that doesn't seem to work either.  Is it possible to set up the site using a named SQL instance?

    Thanks

Ok, I simply decided to ignore the SQLExpress option and to select the SQL2005 option.  That allowed me to enter the server name, port, pwd, etc.  which worked fine - even for SQL Express.  So, sorry for the bother - no need to answer.  This post is just in case others might want to know what worked.

    Hello Allen,

Thank you for your follow up.
The other think you could have done is changing the connection string manually in the web.config file. We are glad everything is fine.

    Sincerely yours,
    Georgi
