    Hi Christopher,

    Thanks for contacting us.

Please tell us which steps you took to produce that error. Were you logged in as a user, went to another screen, deleted that user and then tried to browse the site?

    Best wishes,
    Joe

I tried copying a sitefinity site from one server to another server. I copying the files and restored the database. Changed any relevant web.config entries and Ran iisreset. This has worked before on another server.

    Thanks,
    Chris

    Hello Christopher,

Thank you for getting back to us.

It seems that there is a problem with the account that starts ASP worker process.
    You could check/try:
    • whether the process has been run under NETWORK SERVICE ACCOUNT or ASPNET account.
    • accounts' permissions and try to reset them if necessary.
    • build the application under Visual Studio ( using ASP.NET development server or other development system.)
Let us know if you need any further assistance.

    Greetings,

The site is actually using an application pool with an identity set to a windows trusted domain account. I found that if I added that trusted user to the Administrators group on the server then the site ran. I don't want this user necessarily to be an administrator though. Do you know the minimum security rights it should have to the file system? I assume it needs access to the C:\Program Files\Telerik.. folders right? Does it need read/write? Also is there any other directory this user would need access to?

    Thanks,
    Chris

    Hi Christopher,

Sitefinity should have access over ASP worker process and read/ write permissions to the App_Data folder, where the database and log files are located.

Let us know if you have further questions.

For some reason the site does not load unless the app pool user is part of the administrators group on the server. I gave the user full control over the entire website file structure, but that didn't even fix the issue. Once I add the user as adminstrator then everything works fine. Is there anything else that could be causing this?

    Thanks,
    Chris

    Hi License Developer,

Sitefinity itself does not require a user to be part of the administrative group. I tried some scenarios and performed an investigation, but we did not faced this problems with Sitefinity. I am sorry, but we could not provide you with a proper answer that will fix this particular issue at your end.

    Hi Christopher,

I am in evaluation period and find the same problem. you find any solution for this issues, because i dont.

Work fine only if IIS_USER in the local admin account.

    scenario:
    Windows 2008 Server Enterprise
    IIS7
    FrameWork 2
    FrameWork 3.5

i am also getting this very same error!

i am trying to install sitefinity locally so that i may develop and test on my machine, then upload to production server.

this is the first time i have installed sitefinity on my local machine.

previously i was working locally off a copy of the directory where sitefinity resides on the server. this allowed me to view the pages being served up by sitefinity, but i could not access sitefinity itself.

so i thought maybe it was something to do with having not installed sitefinity via the executable (in that i was working merely from a copy of the directory from the server).

i ran the install following the instructions given in the user guide. the install finishes, i click the "show project manager" checkbox then the configuration error pops up in the browser:

    Server Error in '/telerik/Sitefinity3.2' Application.

    Configuration Error

Description: An error occurred during the processing of a configuration file required to service this request. Please review the specific error details below and modify your configuration file appropriately.

Parser Error Message: Could not load file or assembly 'Telerik.Framework' or one of its dependencies. The system cannot find the file specified.

    Source Error:

    Line 128: </eventMappings>
    Line 129: <providers>
    Line 130: <add name="Simple Web Event Provider" type="Telerik.Utilities.TextFileWebEventProvider,Telerik.Framework" logFileName="~/App_Data/sitefinity.log"/>
    Line 131: <add name="Simple Web Buffered Event Provider" type="Telerik.Utilities.BufferedTextFileWebEventProvider,Telerik.Framework" bufferMode="Notification" logFileName="~/App_Data/sitefinity.log"/>
    Line 132: <add name="Code Benchmark Provider" type="Telerik.Utilities.CodeBenchmarkTextFileProvider,Telerik.Framework" enabled="False" logFileName="~/App_Data/performance.log"/>

Before this was displayed for the first time, i was asked for a username and password (i am not sure whether this is a normal thing to happen at this point).

I have tried all of the troubleshooting points in the user guide, to no avail.

i am using IIS 5.1 and .NET 3.5 (though i have, of course, set ASP.NET to be version 2.... in IIS).

any help would be much appreciated, and not just by me, it seems from this thread

    thanks,
    Nick

i have followed your instructions regarding medium trust environments but i am now presented with a similar, albeit slightly different error:

    Configuration Error

Description: An error occurred during the processing of a configuration file required to service this request. Please review the specific error details below and modify your configuration file appropriately.

Parser Error Message: Could not load file or assembly 'System.Web.Extensions, Version=1.0.61025.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=31bf3856ad364e35' or one of its dependencies. The system cannot find the file specified. (C:\CMS\CMS\web.config line 107)

    Source Error:

    Line 105: </profile>
    Line 106: <httpModules>
    Line 107: <add name="ScriptModule" type="System.Web.Handlers.ScriptModule, System.Web.Extensions, Version=1.0.61025.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=31BF3856AD364E35"/>

how do i change the trust level? is this recommended? is it potentially unsafe to do so? sorry for the questions, i've never had experience of this sort of problem before

    Hello Nick,

Well, this indicates you do not the System.Web.Extensions installed. Actually you mentioned that you have .NET3.5 installed. Then you should use the newer extensions, instead of version 1.x. I am sending you a clean web.config file, with enabled .NET3.5 and System.Web.Extensions 3.5. Please review it and modify your web.config file, in order to reflect these changes.

    Best wishes,
