    We want to use SSL in our sitefinity site.  I see the radio button on the page properties tab that lets me select if the page should require ssl or not.  When I choose 'Yes' for Require SSL the page is redirected with an 'https' prefix just like I expected, but when I browse to other pages that do not have 'Yes' marked for Require SSL they are still coming up with the 'https' prefix.

    I would expect sitefinity to switch back and forth between ssl and non-ssl.  Is this not the case?  Is there some way to get the desired functionality in sitefinity?

    Thanks!

    I don't understand.  Has no one else run into this issue?

    Is this a bug?

    Hi John Reynolds,

    First of all, please take our apologizes for our little delay on the expected answer.

    At this time, we recommend you to update to version 3.2 and see if the issue persists. If this is not acceptable, could you please tell us which version of Sitefinity are you using, because our records show that you have downloaded different versions. We just want to find out a solution for you.

    Thank you for the cooperation.

    Kind regards,
    Georgi

    Of course, you apology is accepted.  I know with the rollout of version 3.2, you guys must be busy.

    Upgrading to v3.2 is not acceptable for an immidiate solution at this time.  This application is currently in production, and the upgrade for v3.2 will have to be approved by the business and sent through our testing environments.

    We are currently using v3.1 SP2.  Are you unable to recreate this issue?

    Thanks,

    Hi John Reynolds,

    Yes, this is a bug in 3.1SP2 that is fixed in version 3.2. We have a delay in our responses, but fortunately have  created a solution for you. I am attaching a custom HttpModule that will fix your issue.
    1. You should unzip the file and put it in App_Code directory of your project. If you don't have such directory, you have to create it.
    2. Register this module before every other HttpModule in your web.config file :
    <httpModules>
        <add name="CustomHttp" type="CustomModule, app_code"/>
        <add name="Cms" type="Telerik.Cms.Web.CmsHttpModule, Telerik.Cms"/>
    ..
    </httpModules>

    Thank you for your patience. We will be glad to assist you with anything else!

    Regards,

    The issue appears to be with navigation when using the SiteTabStrip and SitePanelBar controls.  When navigating the site using the controls the page does not switch between SSL and non-SSL pages.

    I have installed your custom module according to your instructions, but do not see a change in functionality.

    Hi John Reynolds,

    We have just tested the custom module with SiteTabStrip and SitePanelBar, and we had no problems at all. Can you confirm that you have followed all the steps, and the custom module is loaded?

    Maybe you are talking about the generated link of each item of these controls- they are all http:// or https://, but when navigating, the CustomModule checks if the desired page requires SSL or not, and switches to http:// or https:// on the fly.

    If you like, we can take a look at your project and see what is going wrong. If you decide to send us your project, you could open new support ticket, put your project and database in a zip file and attach it.

    Kind regards,
    Georgi
