I am trying to launch the TIUSite_v3.5 Sample site and am getting an error whenever I click on "Browse" or "Edit" the site.  The error says:

An error has occurred while establishing a connection to the server.  When connecting to SQL Server 2005, this failure may be caused by the fact that under the default settings SQL Server does not allow remote connections. (provider: SQL Network Interfaces, error: 26 - Error Locating Server/Instance Specified)

I have followed all of the steps to configure SQL Server 2005 to allow remote connection (as specified in http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;914277) but it is still throwing the same error message.

I am running this on a  local development machine, this is the first project I have tried to generate with version 3.5 and I am using SQL Server 2005, not the Express edition.  Can someone help me get the sample site up and running on my machine?  Thanks in advance!

    Hello Christopher,

    Thanks for contacting us.

The easiest way to get rid of this error is to attach the database to your SQL Server using SQL Server Management Studio, create a new page, drop a SQL Datasource on it, configure the connection and swap the connection string name with the one from the TIU project.

I'd be happy to provide more info on how to accomplish these steps, so let us know if you need help.

    All the best,

    Joe,

Thanks for trying to help.  I tried attaching the database but got an error message because it can't locate the log file.  Here is the exact message I get:

    Attach database failed for Server.
an exception occurred while executing a  Transact-SQL statement or both.
Unable to open the physical file "C:\Program Files\telerik\Sitefinity3.5\WebSites\TIUSite_v3.5\App_Data\Sitefinity_log.ldf". Operating system error 2: "2(The system cannot find the file specified.)". (Microsoft SQL Server, Error: 5120)

    Hello Christopher,

Please remove the log file from the attachment and if necessary from the root folder. The .log file will be automatically generated after running the Sitefinity project. Also, make sure that your user has needed permission to write in the database.

    I hope this helps.
