What am I trying to accomplish?
    -----------------------------------------------------
Upgrade to the .net 4.0 sp4 of version 3.7

    PROBLEM:
    -----------------------------------------------------
during the upgrade I am getting stuck.

PROCESS I WENT THROUGH SO FAR:
    -----------------------------------------------------
    UPGRADE INSTRUCTIONS step 1>OK
    UPGRADE INSTRUCTIONS step 2>OK
UPGRADE INSTRUCTIONS step 3>OK    (file replacement with files from the ZIP)
UPGRADE INSTRUCTIONS step 4>OK    (web.config file setting changes)
Compiled the website in VS 2010 (no errors ...everything ok).

Now I go to the sitefinity website.  and it prompts me for the database of where my sitefinity site is located.
I enter the proper credentials and even attempted to use the "SA" account.  But I get an error after I enter
    the credentials.

NOTE: I assume this step "SET DATABASE" will upgrade the sitefinity database.

ERROR #1>the error I get in the browser:
Parser Error Message: An error occurred loading a configuration file: Access to the path 'E:\mywebsites\sitefinitywebsite\p4umwtze.tmp' is denied.
    No relevant source lines

ERROR #2>In the Windows Event Log I get this error:
    Log Name:      Application
    Source:        ASP.NET 4.0.30319.0
    Date:          1/14/2011 10:17:50 AM
System.UnauthorizedAccessException: Access to the path 'E:\mywebsites\sitefinititywebsite\\App_Data\sitefinity.log' is denied.   at System.IO.__Error.WinIOError(Int32 errorCode, String maybeFullPath)

    I have two questions:
1>The Upgrade instructions do not mention anything about upgrading the database or even the steps which
I am starting to see, Am I going about this the wrong way?

2>Why am I getting security warnings?

NOTICE: when I place the old web.config file back on to the "upgraded" website and compile it.  Everything works just fine.   Something in this new web.config file is causing the system to respond differently.

    Thanks,

    Hi Sravanthi,

    1. Database is internally upgraded by Sitefinity and you should not touch it.

    2. You are getting the error because the ASP.NET worker process does not have read/write permissions over the sitefinity.log. The application is trying to log an error there, but due to insufficient permissions this cannot happen. You should grant ASP.NET with read/write permissions.

    Best wishes,

Ok I changed the privledges:  but the "DATABASE" screen still appears upon going to the website.  Should I enter all the credentials.  Is this the screen which "SITEFINITY" uses to upgrade the database?  Why does it not just read my settings in the web.config file and upgrade it automatically and tell me it is complete.

The message ont eh screen is as follows:

    Project Startup

Welcome! First, you need to configure some basic settings for this project.
If needed, you can change them later.

    1. Set Database
    2. Register Administrator
    1. Set Database

Which database would you like to use?

Ok ...so I got through that error...now the website  is giving another error..Almost as if the sitefinity system is trying to alter the web.config file...

Access to the path '......\web.config' is denied.

Exception Details: System.UnauthorizedAccessException: Access to the path web.config is denied.

ASP.NET is not authorized to access the requested resource. Consider granting access rights to the resource to the ASP.NET request identity. ASP.NET has a base process identity (typically {MACHINE}\ASPNET on IIS 5 or Network Service on IIS 6 and IIS 7, and the configured application pool identity on IIS 7.5) that is used if the application is not impersonating. If the application is impersonating via <identity impersonate="true"/>, the identity will be the anonymous user (typically IUSR_MACHINENAME) or the authenticated request user.

To grant ASP.NET access to a file, right-click the file in Explorer, choose "Properties" and select the Security tab. Click "Add" to add the appropriate user or group. Highlight the ASP.NET account, and check the boxes for the desired access.

    =======================
So I decided...something is definately messed up with my IIS security.  Well it does not appear this to be true.   I deleted the sitefinity website, re-created the website with in IIS 7.5 and linked it back to the folder where the sitefiniity files exist.   STILL THE ABOVE ERROR COMES UP after re-creating the website within IIS.

OK...SO AFter working through all the things I tried (this is what worked).

REALLY THE DOCUMENTATION FOR UPGRADING SITEFINITY REALLY NEEDS TO IMPROVE AND MAYBE SHOW A COUPLE PRINT SCREENS.  and to note...this is a "WORK AROUND" and probably not the way I shold do it.

To note: If you are working on a productions server (2008 R2) you can not run javascript  (hence you can not select the database).

SO SINCE I COULD NOT RUN THE BROWSER AS ADMINISTRATOR TO UPGRADE THE SITEFINITY...I DECIDED TO DO THE NEXT BEST THING...

ASSINGN THE "EVERYONE" GROUP TO THE "SITEFINITY WEBSITE FOLDER"...and give the group "FULL CONTROLE" This way I would be able upgrade the website on the server.

ONCE I DID THIS....I WAS ABLE TO SELECT THE DATABASE and "SITEFINITY" upgraded the web.config file like it wanted.  WHY DOES IT DO THIS??? NO CLUE..

BUT ANYWAYS...it did everything it needed to do and I TESTED AND LOGGED IN AND THE PROBLEM WAS FIXED....THE WEBSITE UPGRADE TO THE LATEST PATCH.

    content="Sitefinity 3.7.2136.240:0"

AFTER I ENSURED EVERYTHING WAS GOOD.....I TOOK THE EVERYONE GROUP AWAY FROM THE SECURITY GROUP.

FOR GOOD MEASURE....I RESTARTED ALL IIS SERVICES AFTER EACH OF THE ABOVE STEPS

    THANKS ANYWAYS:
