    Hello,

    I can't log into telerik/TIUSite_v3.5_SP1.  No error message appears and I can't ever get past the login screen.
    I've tried all the methods documented in the knowledge base to reset the password, but to no avail.  It's as if it's not even reading from the database when trying to authenticate.

    Is there a log I can reference, or something else I can try (I've seen various messages on it with no resolution on this matter).

    here is the code I've tried:

            MembershipProvider prov = UserManager.Default.MembershipProvider;
            prov.UnlockUser("admin");
            string ss = prov.ResetPassword("admin", "");
            bool bRet =  prov.ChangePassword("admin", ss, "admin");

    Hello Richard,

    Have you tried to reset the password through the database?
    The hashed format of a password is stored in the database table Telerik_Users. To access the password, the password format should be changed - the PasswordFormat value should be set from 1 to 0 (put into "Clear" mode) so that the password is saved as plain text in the table. After executing this, the new format of the password will be saved in the Password field. Copy this string and paste it into the password field when logging in into the Admin part of Sitefinity or change tge password field with a new password( let say 123456).

    Sitefinity's error log is located under App_Data folder.

    Let us know if you are still unable to log in the sample website.

    Best wishes,

    No change.  I changed the PasswordFormat field to 0 and set the password to 123456, and I still cannot log in.  The log file is empty.

    I'm curious as your explanation says to execute the PasswordFormat to 0, when all I did was change the value of the data in the table.

    The web.config tells me I'm on the correct database, but it seems like it's not authenticating against it (I'm not sure where it is going), but since the login screen shows no errors, I'm not sure what to do next.

    I decided to create a new site, but when I log in I receive this error:

    Method not found: 'Void System.Web.UI.ScriptManager.RegisterStartupScript(System.Web.UI.Page, System.Type, System.String, System.String, Boolean)'.

    At least it seems to validate the password.

    Hello Richard,

    Thanks for contacting us.

    Please, check if you have System.Web.Extension.dll in the ~/bin folder of the project.
    Have you migrated your project to use .net3.5?
    Try adding the following lines in your web.config file.

    <appSettings/>
        <runtime>
            <assemblyBinding xmlns="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:asm.v1"
                <probing privatePath="bin;sitefinity\admin\bin"/>
                <dependentAssembly>
                    <assemblyIdentity name="System.Web.Extensions" publicKeyToken="31bf3856ad364e35"/>
                    <bindingRedirect oldVersion="1.0.0.0-1.1.0.0" newVersion="3.5.0.0"/></dependentAssembly>
                <dependentAssembly>
                    <assemblyIdentity name="System.Web.Extensions.Design" publicKeyToken="31bf3856ad364e35"/>
                    <bindingRedirect oldVersion="1.0.0.0-1.1.0.0" newVersion="3.5.0.0"/></dependentAssembly></assemblyBinding
        </runtime>
        <connectionStrings>

    Let us know if the problem persists.

    It's there.

    No, I am still using .net 2

    >>
    Try adding the following lines in your web.config file.

    The site fails to launch since the assemblies are wrong (I'm guessing that code was only to be used if I had .net 3.5)

    I'm going to try an install this on another box to see if these issues are due to my environment.  I'll let you know of my results.

    good news.  Everything seems to run on the other box.  I guess my environment is unsupported, so consider this case closed.

    Thanks for all your help.
