    Creating new projects fail.  When I type name and click on "Create this project",  I receive this message :

    Cannot create a file when that file already exists. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x800700B7)

    All files are then deleted, and I can't tell which file is in question.
    Enviroment: XP Pro SP2, SQL2005 express, sitefinity community, have also full Telerick controls subscription.

    BTW There are no projects in project manager,  but sample projects work fine when started from installed shortcuts.

    Hello dmajkic,

    I assume you are using Windows Vista as this exception has been thrown in such scenarios. If this is the case, when installing Sitefinity under Vista, you should consider the following issues:

    Please, try to uninstall and install again Sitefinity. After the uninstall, complete a check if there is something left in the Program Files/telerik/Sitefinity3.0 folder. In case there is, delete the folder manually.

    Hello Васил,

    I'am on XP Pro SP2, not on Vista.

    After smoe more trying:

    if I set the "Project name" to "dmajkic" - it fails with givven message.
    But it (almost*) works if I set  project name  "Dusan Majkic".

    Now I receive "roles are not enabled" error : Here are the contents of log file:
    (I guess that RoleExists() is called somewhere in Wizard, but since community edition does not support roles, exception is created )

    Hi Dušan,

    Sorry for overlooking the information in the previous post. My intention was only to get the right answer faster as the problem is common and had occurred before. So please accept my sincere apologies.

    Fortunately, we were able to discover the real reason about this error. It usually occurs if you already have a virtual directory with the project name you want. In your case: dmajkic. Let us know if this is not the case.

    Also, it is odd that you get the 'Role feature is not enabled' error. The roles are not disabled for the community edition of Sitefinity. Actually, they are set to false in the web.config file, but set to true programmatically in the second step of the wizard. Perhaps a workaround would be to open the web.config with some text editor and change the property to true (when this error occurs). You should change

    <roleManager enabled="false" cacheRolesInCookie="true" defaultProvider="Sitefinity">

    to

    <roleManager enabled="true" cacheRolesInCookie="true" defaultProvider="Sitefinity">

    Refresh the page. Hope this would help.

    Hi Vassil,

    everything OK.  There was an IIS virtual dir named "dmajkic" which prevented project creation. And role problem came right in next project creation.

    You should, perhaps, add check for project name in project creator.

    After I restarted IIS,  project creation went fine and  I'm typing text already.

    GREAT support from Telerik.  Keep up the good work!

    I'm using Community Edition 3.7.2022.3 windows 7 and, of course, IIS7.
    I've got same error "A virtual directory 'prova' already exists in http://localhost/. Please, specify another project name."

    I've already deleted manually both virtual directory under IIS and associated physical folder, but problem persists; I need to delete entry in some database? What other actions I can try?

    thanks
    Andrea

    Hi Andrea Montrasio,

    I am not sure why you receive this error, perhaps there is something, somewhere which is left. If you have the EmptyProject.zip archive, you may try to use it instead.

    I tried to uninstall everything, IIS included, and after reinstall them it works.
    The only difference to previous tests is IIS uninstall and its reinstall ... probably previous IIS installation had some problems.

    thanks for your help.
