I am unable to setup Sitefinity 3.6 with MySQL database.
After I fill in the connection string, I get the following error message:

    Server Error in '/demo' Application.
    Configuration Error
Description: An error occurred during the processing of a configuration file required to service this request. Please review the specific error details below and modify your configuration file appropriately.

Parser Error Message: Procedure or function 'NN_NextValue' cannot be found in database 'demo'.

    Source Error:

    Line 107:        <clear />
    Line 108:        <add connectionStringName="DefaultConnection" applicationName="/"
    Line 109:          name="Sitefinity" type="Telerik.DataAccess.AspnetProviders.TelerikRoleProvider, Telerik.DataAccess" />
    Line 110:      </providers>
    Line 111:    </roleManager>

I have tried to reinstall everything and run the setup again, but I keep on encountering the same error.

Could you please help me on this?

    Hello Ivan,

Have you made any changes in the original web.config file that comes with an empty site? Do you use the last official release?

Please make sure you have the following configuration in the web.config:
        - Role Provider is disabled:

    <roleManager enabled="false" cacheRolesInCookie="true" defaultProvider="Sitefinity"

        - Cms is disabled

    <cms defaultProvider="Sitefinity" pageExtension=".aspx" disabled="true"

The settings above should force the startup wizard.
However, if the problem persists any additional information will help us to determine the problem.

    Best wishes,

I modified to web.config as you instructed, but I still encounter an error.
I managed to install Sitefinity on the same server in the past but using MS SQL Server. However due to budge constraint, we decide to go with MySQL.
So I did a fresh installation of Sitefinity with MySQL database and I got this error.
I have tried to do a fresh installation many times, but I keep on getting the same error message. Please help.

    Hello Ivan,

I am not able to reproduce the problem you have. It is not possible to get this error on fresh installation and empty database. It is possible that there are some Sitefinity data in your database or your database is corrupted. I suggest that you should drop your current database, create a new one and try the installation. I am also sending you a backup of a local database that I successfully installed( Sitefinity build 1936).

    Kind regards,
    Ivan Dimitrov

I keep on getting this error no matter how many times I recreate the database.
I created a user and granting him all privileges on Sitefinity database, but I kept on getting this error message. I didn't get this error if I connect to the database using root user.

Is it a must to connect to Sitefinity database using root in MySQL?

    Hi Ivan,

It is possible, because if the user does not have needed permissions some stored procedures could not be created. If you are using Project Manager you should be also an administrator with full rights of the server.

    Hello,

RE: Parser Error Message: Procedure or function 'NN_NextValue' cannot be found in database

I too had the same prob with 3.7 community and sql 2005 on the prod server. Another post mentioned the import/export wiz from SQL management studio. This is where I incurred the error also. The SP didn't export.

Solution that worked for me.. create the SP from your dev server and execute it on the prod server.  Have added the SQL below, although going through the process above is probably better given that it may be different for different versions. Note change your-db-name to your db's name

    USE [your-db-name]
    GO

    /****** Object:  StoredProcedure [dbo].[NN_NextValue]    Script Date: 09/07/2009 00:43:50 ******/
    SET ANSI_NULLS ON
    GO

    SET QUOTED_IDENTIFIER ON
    GO

    CREATE PROCEDURE [dbo].[NN_NextValue] ( @CounterID nvarchar ( 50 ), @CacheSize int )

    AS BEGIN

    update [dbo] . [NN_Counters] SET CounterValue = CounterValue + @CacheSize WHERE CounterID = @CounterID

    SELECT CounterValue - @CacheSize + 1 AS CounterValue , CounterValue AS MAXVALUE

    FROM [dbo] . [NN_Counters] WHERE CounterID = @CounterID

    END
    GO

Hope this is of some help..
