    As I blog using Sitefinity and my control library increases I'm realizing;

I really want to use my controls on my blog pages.

This is probably a really big request.  I know I would personally get a ton of use out of it though.

    Hi Gabe,

the same thing occurred to us while working on Newsletter module. We will definitely consider providing a more advanced way for creating content with templates and controls similar to pages. However, we cannot commit to a time frame yet.

Could you please describe in details how you want to see this implemented from a blogger's point of view?
    Your help is much appreciated.

    Hi Bob,

I would love to have something that works pretty much exactly like the Sitefinity pages.  Meaning when I create a new blog entry I get access to the "Controls" toolbox and can drag & drop controls at will.

Doing this may complicate blogging for someone who doesn't need or want this functionality however.  Perhaps having the ability to toggle into an "advanced" mode would be in order?

As an aside, because of my work on the "What's New" control I began to wonder if I could create something that "looks" like a blog but utilizes Sitefinity pages.  It could do this by merely fetching recently created Sitefinity pages.

I haven't tried to actually implement this idea, so there might be reasons why this wouldn't work.

One more thought, something that should probably be pondered is making a version of RadEditor that can have controls dropped into it.

When creating a new page we currently have to drop a "Generic Control"  to start doing anything.  We alter the "Generic Control" and start typing our content.  If we want to add a list (or whatever), we have to exit the "Generic Control", drop a "List" control under it, customize the list, then drop another "Generic Control" under the "List Control" to resume typing.

When creating a new page it would really be neat if we could...just start typing.  When it comes time to drop a control, just grab it, drop it, and resume typing.

I'm aware that this might be very complicated, if not impossible.  Without doubt this would be incredible though.   :)

    Hi Gabe,

Yeah I think it is a good idea too. I often wish I could drag controls amongst text too, like if you want to use the Image Control amongst text rather than using the image editor in the RadEditor.   But this sort of flexibility would put a nail in the coffin for other CMS's compared to Sitefinity...

I am not sure how it would be achieved as you say but I am sure that if there is anyone who can figure something out Telerik would be who I would put my money on.

And Bob, hold on a second did I hear you say Newsletter module, are you letting slip about features for 3.2?  If so please do give us more details as I am sure the community would love to have a chance to comment on what features you are planning on implementing?

    Cheers
    Sean

    Hi Guys,

3 years later and it doesn't seem this has been done yet, I would love to see a way to simply drag a control into a blog post, or into a generic content block. Does anyone know if this is a feature of 4?
