We are evaluating .net CMS products such as Sitefinity, DNN, etc. We expect to download the trial version of Sitefinity in the upcoming weeks as part of our evaluation.

As part of the evaluation process, I have been perusing the Sitefinity forum threads. One of the key functions we expect the CMS to deliver out-of-box was discussed in the forum thread http://www.sitefinity.com/support/forums/support-forum-thread/b1043S-bakhde.aspx.

From our perspective, a good example of such an implemenatation is located at http://newsinfo.iu.edu/news/page/normal/10929.html.

Additionally, we like how low res/high res images are managed within the example I have provided.

The Sitefinity forum thread mentions that something similar to the example I have listed will be implemented in a future version. Will this feature be available in the upcoming new version and/or be available in any version within the next 6 months. Thanks for your feedback.

    Hello rpa,

Please excuse us for the huge delay in our response.

Thank you for evaluating our CMS.

Yes, we do plan to provide the print feature for the upcoming major release - 4.0 . We do plan even more enhancements but we would announce them in a later stage of the development of that version.

Let us know if we could be of further help in your evaluation process.

    Sincerely yours,
    Sonya

    Thanks for the update.

Have you published any timelines with respect to the release of 4.0? If the intial release is beta, will there be an upgrade path for sites developed in beta software when the RTM version is released? When is 4.0 expected to RTM?

Also to confirm, based on your response, the initial release of 4.0 will not include the email feature?

    Thanks.

PS. You might review this editor in Chrome. It only displays half the text box and the scroll bar only extends halfway.

To clarify my comment concerning Chrome:

After you enter about 6-7 lines of text, a scroll bar appears on the right. The scroll bar only goes half-way of the height of the text box.

In IE the scroll bar only appears after you have entered text that fills the initial text box.

    Hope this clarifies my comment.

    Cheers.

    Hello rpa,

we do not have yet the official release date for the Sitefinity 4.0, however we are talking in terms of months here. As for the releases, we are planning on having a CTP, Alpha, Beta and final release. The upgrade from Beta to final release ought to be smooth and without any complications. CTP and Alpha should not be used for any kind production or preproduction work, but more as a insight of where Sitefinity is heading.

I hope this clarifies the questions with the Sitefinity 4.0. I am sorry that we are not in position to give a more precise timeline at this moment.

    Sincerely yours,
    Ivan
