    Hi.

Based on what I found out in User manual document, Workflow needs to be disabled to make Sitefinity powered web site work in Shared Hosting environment.

Workflow, in my opinion, is an integral part of CMS. And, given the fact that most of the Hosting services providers run Asp.Net sites in Medium trust, I would appreciate if workflow can be implemented to run in medium trust.

    Thanks!

    Hello Nitin,

Our intention is to migrate the Sitefinity workflow to Windows Workflow Foundation which can work fine in shared hosting, as it is in GAC. Then the only requirement for the hosting provider will be that .NET 3.0 is installed. We will implement this for version 3.2 that is due in December.

    All the best,

    Rebecca,

    Thanks for the quick reply.

It does make sense to me. However, I am currently working on a Sitefinity web site for a client and ideally, the web site would support workflow. Actually, "workflow support" was one of the reasons, I recommended them to go ahead with Sitefinity.

Is there a way (may be a custom module, if possible at all) to implement basic workflow functionality using Sitefinity framework?

    Hello Nitin,

Yes, it is possible but it will be quite an effort. This is not a straightforward task. Also, if you create your own workflow module you won’t be able to take advantage of future improvements.

If you are still interested in creating your own module, let us know, we will send you guidelines.

    Kind regards,
    Bob
