your New Thread link is at the BOTTOM of the page. interesting.

i came to the site cause i heard about sitefinity - i've looked everywhere and am unable to see any requirements/specs such as on what platform this runs. i had to come to the forums (and register) to find it. most people would have given up a long time ago.

this program costs 1500.00 and it won't run on Apache? it doesn't support MySQL?

how much are you going to charge when it does support 75% of what the web is developed in?

    Hi Glenn,

Thank you for your interest in Sitefinity.

Indeed, it is our omission that we have not posted the System Requirements of Sitefinity - this will be fixed on Monday. Here they are, taken from the Sitefinity documentation:

    Server

    • Microsoft® Windows 2000, 2003, or XP Professional
    • Internet Information Services 4+
    • Microsoft® .Net Framework v2.0 for Sitefinity v2.7 and .NET1.0/1.1 for previous versions

    Supported Databases

    • Microsoft® SQL Server 7+
    • Microsoft® Access 2000+
    • Oracle 10
    • Microsoft® SQL Express

    Browser Client - Edit Mode

    • Internet Explorer 5.5+, Netscape 4,7+, Mozilla 1.3+, Firefox 1.0+ (JavaScript must be enabled)

    Browser Client - View Mode

    • Internet Explorer 5.0+, Netscape 4,7+, Mozilla 1.3+, Safari 1.2.1+, Opera 7.5+, Konqueror, Firefox 1.0+ (JavaScript must be enabled)

Your assumption that our CMS cannot run under Apache is not quite right because the current Sitefinity version runs under .NET2. However, you can use older versions of Sitefinity (from v1.0 to 2.5.3) which operate under .NET1 with  Apache. We can add the older version to your account for testing, if you are interested.

Once Apache with Mono fully support .NET2 we will consider adding native support for it. Note that our main target at this time is IIS with ASP.NET 2.0 and we will not provide .NET1 versions of Sitefinity any more.

The database layer of the upcoming version 3.0 of Sitefinity will be supporting MySQL. The beta of Sitefinity v3 will be available publicly through these forums in 2-3 weeks.

    All the best,

Just a thought: the other 75% that needs to deploy to LAMP platform is already well served with respect to content management systems in my view. (Joomla etc). I think it is excellent that SiteFinity addresses an underserved market in .NET CMS systems that don't cost an arm and a leg, nor are they bloated and cumbersome (like say DotNetNuke). With all of that said, we happily use many of the current CMS on .NET and LAMP, and the hosting models and availability are no longer very limited with so many options available.

    My 2 cents.
