Mulit-Language Sites

Has there been any thought about how to go about having a multi-language website? We have had a couple of clients interested in having a site with multiple languages. Any ideas as to how we could accomplish this?

    Hello Jim,

The support for multiple languages sites is one of the main features in Sitefinity 2.0, which is currently in BETA testing and is scheduled to be released in the beginning of the next month.

Here are the other new features:

    • Improved API (no more DataTables and DataSets but meaningful collections and classes instead) which significantly improves the developer experience
    • Ability to take advantage of the workflow mechanism for third-party controls (News control)
    • Support for multiple languages sites (localized page details, control contents, etc)
    • Diff for control contents (RadEditorControl)
    • Mozilla, Netscape and Firefox support
    • Public users / permissions which will enable creating a secure site area
    • Built-in friendly navigation using page names
    • WebServiceConnector control
    • Project Converter (for converting Sitefinity project from v1.x to v2.0)

    Have a productive day,
    Vlad

I can't wait to test all the new features. Please let me know when I can test the beta.

    Thanks,

    Arne

    Hi,

    "I can't wait to test all ...."

I'll second that, is there a chance to get hold of the beta? And, will 2.0 support ASP.NET 2.0 ?

    Thanks
    Bert

    Hello Bert, Arne,

Please open support tickets and we will send you download instructions asap. As for the second questions, we still don't have Sitefinity for .NET 2.0 but we are working on it and it will probably appear shortly after the official .NET 2.0 release.

    Sincerely yours,
    George

I know you have mentioned that v2.0 would be released at the beginning of November. Are we looking at the first couple of days, or the first couple of weeks? As I would love to download the beta, I would rather wait a week and have the released version. Any timelines on the release?
