Answered BIG file uploads ~1GB

I've been trying to upload a 2 hour long video using the normal SQL provider and am getting an error.

InvalidOperationException: This SqlTransaction has completed; it is no longer usable.

Is there anything to do about this?

Is switching to the file provider for the library a better option?

Hi Scott,

You could try the following options

Option one: Enable the streaming for Nolics provider and then try to upload a file.

<libraries defaultGenericProvider="Libraries" streamingProviderName="Nolics" streamingIsEnabled="True"streamingChunkSize="20971520">

This will set your website to upload files on chunk of maximum 20 MB. If you want you can decrease the value of streamingChunkSize to 10 or 5 MB

Option two: If the option one does not help ( I hope that option 1 will resolve your issue) you should use the Files provider. You might also find this post useful - Switching from database to filesysystem for files.

I suggest that you should use Files provider or AmazonS3 or Viddler storage for large files.

Thanks for that quick response! suggestion #1 worked.

I have a few follow-up questions now....

- On my site, I have 3 different providers

<libraries defaultGenericProvider="Libraries" streamingProviderName="Nolics" streamingIsEnabled="True" streamingChunkSize="20971520">

            <genericContentProviders>

                <add providerName="Libraries" publicationDateField="Publication_Date"/>

                <add providerName="SoE_Libraries" publicationDateField="Publication_Date"/>

                <add providerName="SoE_Videos" publicationDateField="Publication_Date"/>

            </genericContentProviders>

because we have some shared content between sub-domains.
Would there be a need or a way to alter these settings for just the video-oriented provider?

Also, how do these settings affect playback vs. uploading? Would you recommend these settings on all sub-domains(sitefinity instances) that use this content regardless of whether they have to play only and not upload?

Hi guys,

I am using Sitefinity 3.7 SP4 and I have created a custom pluggable module the usual way and when I try to edit or create new item (in the backend), or get details for only one item (in the frontend) I am getting the same:

This SqlTransaction has completed; it is no longer usable.
I have more custom modules in my app and they are not giving this issue - I really don't know what could cause it - the things is that on another machine it is working. Also the list of items in the backend is loading fine.

Can you please suggest some idea about it ?

I am really stuck and I need help.

Hi I am receiving connection reset errors when trying to upload images to our Sitefinity 3.7 site. We are using the files provider and I have updated web.config (shown below) as many posts I have read recommend to increase the maximum request length to 204.8 MB and 5 minutes execution timeout.

<httpRuntime maxRequestLength="204800" executionTimeout="300" />

Our web server is running on Windows 2003 x64 and IIS 6. I have checked the AspMaxRequestEntityAllowed setting in the Windows/System32/inetsrv/MetaBase.xml file as recommended here http://www.telerik.com/support/kb/aspnet-ajax/upload/page-not-found-error-when-uploading-large-files-on-win2003.aspx but it is also set to 204800 KB (204.8 MB) and the image I am trying to upload is only around 24 MB. I can not replicate the issue on my local host development environment and I'm not sure what else to try or what is causing the issue. I suspect it could be because the site is receiving a few other requests while the image is uploading.

Any ideas or suggestions?
