    Hi

I just change my hosting from godaddy to another one which has full trust permission. During the migration everything works fine, except when I publish the changes, i received 404 errors (error shows below), but the changes has been persisted.

404 - File or directory not found.

The resource you are looking for might have been removed, had its name changed, or is temporarily unavailable.

    Thanks

    Hello Vincent,

Could you tell us the steps you follow before getting the error? Since the project is working on local host and it was working on the other host most probably the problem is related to server setting or you have not copied the entire project. Check also whether there are any errors written in App_Data/sitefinity.log file.

    Hi Ivan

I just check the log file that you mentioned, there is no error written in it. Here are few steps I published my page.

    1. Login to the administration site,
    2. Go to the pages section.
    3. If I clicked on the right side page name link, it will throw the 404 error. The only way I can modify the page is to click the page on the left side navigation link, I can see the page display in the right panel.
    4. However, after I finish editing the page content and click publish content, it throw 404 error again.

I can send you the backend login details if you want to see it. Give me your email address.

    Cheers!

    Hello Vincent,

Open a bug report and provide the website credentials there. Make sure that all files are copied. Also try running the project on a local server to see whether the problem persists there. Generally 404 is a very common error and I am not sure that only reproducing the problem at your website using UI will be helpful, because this is not the default behavior of the page publishing. process.

It seems you company does not allow the community edition user to submit the bug report. I don't know why. But at least the community edition user will help the product improvement. :(, I did try on my local version, it works fine. What will happen when I save the page changes? Will it write some temp file on the disk first? If it's the case, I may need to setup the permission for that particular folder.

BTW: The email notification I received has a link named "

Click here to post a reply or unsubscribe from this thread..
    ", this never works :)

    Hi Vincent,

You could download a free trial (http://www.sitefinity.com/account/free-trials.aspx) which will allow you to submit a bug report. Your account does not have support options.

    Hi

The reason why I don't want to do that is because I ran the app on my local machine without any problem. I don't think install another standard trial version on my local machine will reproduce the problem.

    Hi Ivan

I just capture another screen shot, which include the url with query string value. I'd like to know does the sitefinity have other error log trace method?

I also check the database "[sf_CmsPageContent]" table, I can retrieve the record by using that guid.
    Thanks

    Hello Vincent,

The QueryString is correct. Sitefinity has only one error log file (/sitefinity.log) located under  App_Data folder. You could check IIS log if there is something written. I could not tell you what the problem with your project is , without having the setup locally. I also suggest that you should try to run the same website on another server.

    Hi Vincent,

The problem is caused by  the URL security lockdown tool . It filters files and some extensions. When you try to publish a page you are blocked. Generally, the configuration can be changed through URLScan.ini. Once
The file has a section for allow and for deny. You can gather more information at Rejected-By-UrlScan 404 Errors

    Hi Ivan

Heaps of thanks for your help. Does it mean I need to change to another hosting provider? Actually I have just changed my hosting provider from godaddy to this new one three days ago.....
