Answered Rotator caching issue

We are utiltizing a RadRotator to display data from an RSS feed supplied by Sitefinity 3.7.2.

We are experiancing a caching issue in FF and IE 8 where the RadRotator appears to be caching the data from the RSS feed source. Manually going to the URL of the feed, I can verify the data is as expected. I've tried clearing browser cache, rebooting the PC, creating a new RSS feed and then changing it back to the first feed, etc...

I'm cross-posting this here as it seems to be a unique side-effect of Sitefinitiy and the Telerik RadRotator control.

My hope is this is a known issue with Sitefinity, maybe someone else has seen this somewhere.

Thank you for using our services.

To what kind of a data source are you binding your RadRotator? If you are using XmlDataSource control this control make sure that the data source control is not set to use caching and it is actually getting all items from the supplied RSS link.

The RadRotator control does not use caching and caching on Sitefinity pages is not turned on by default. However the XmlDataSource control caches the data which it has to feed to the the RadRotator. So please make sure that the data source control which you use is loading properly the data and does not use caching.

I have tried this with binding my RadRotator to an XmlDataSource with caching disabled and all works as expected:

<asp:XmlDataSource ID="XmlDataSource1" XPath="rss/channel/item" EnableCaching="false" runat="server" DataFile="http://localhost:4579/Blank37SP2/en/blogs.rss.ashx">

</asp:XmlDataSource>

That's it. Amazingly simple.

The EnableCaching="false" attribute and value is needed in my siutation.
