converting to web application project

Hi,

I'm interested in converting an existing sitefinity Website Project in visual studio 2005 to a Web Application Project (I always prefer to use Web Application Projects for several reasons)

Before I even attempt this, has anyone tried this before with a sitefinity website, and from the telerik team - is there any particular reason it was decided that Website project architecture would be used instead of the Web Application Project? Is there any possibility of future releases having this option right out of the box?

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated!

Telerik, I really, really like your products (I use your ASP.NET control suite and have been building websites with Sitefinity lately) and your support is typically excellent, but the "only reason why we chose Website project is that it allows conversion to Web Application Project" answer is the sort of cop-out answer I wouldn't have expected from you. Respectfully--we deserve a little better than that.

Hi Brettlj,

Although they didn't elaborate - to give Telerik some credit, I think what they meant by their answer was that by using a standard VS Website as the base project, it allows those who want to to 'upconvert' to a Web Application. If they started off with a Web Application, those who support only VS Web site projects would be out of luck.

Although not ideal, at least the current method allows both project types (assuming we can convert successfully)

I'm looking forward to the day when we have the option for Web Site or Web Application project when creating a new Sitefinity site.
