Shared Hosting Providers

I am trying to find a shared hosting provider that works WELL with Sitefinity.   If you have implemented SiteFinity on a shared hosting platform please let me know.  Any additional information would be great (cost, issues deploying Sitefinity, etc).

Also, does Work Flow work in a medium trust enviroment?

    Hi James,

Thank you for your interest in Telerik products.

For the shared hosting provider is important to be .NET hosting provider(not Linux or any other) I can recommend you the services of one of our partners - http://uplinkearth.com/ .

The cost for the SiteFinity license is $899. it is domain based and  has no limitations  as  to  developer seats. For detailed information regarding the license, please visit  : http://www.sitefinity.com/purchase/buy-now.aspx   .

Regarding your question whether Work Flow work in a medium trust environment - there is a similar support forum thread at http://www.sitefinity.com/support/forums/support-forum-thread/b1043S-ttkhc.aspx  . You can Instantly find answers to your questions at the new Telerik Support Center

    medicalwebgeek -

The folks at webhost4life.com have been very accommodating. They will work with you to get EVERYTHING in Sitefinity to work correctly. One thing that some hosts won't do is map the .template in the IIS configuration settings. Before you go signing up with them, the one problem I had which you will find with most hosts is the application pool. .Net 2.0 sites go to sleep after 20 minutes and no shared host will adjust this. Instead webhost4life offers a scheduled task. The scheduled task pings your web site every 19 minutes so that the application pool doesn't go to sleep. The cost at webhost4life is cheap...$10/month plus $20/year for the scheduled task. They also offer $40/year SSL cert. And the support is very quick. Usually a couple of hours or less.

If anyone can work around the application pool on a shared host, I am all ears.

I am always interested in learning more about additional hosts. Please keep me up to date with what you learn.

    Sincerely,

    Ben

    Hi,

I must admit that I haven't had heaps of luck when it comes to shared hosts, especially since I am trying to find them in Australia also, I am not sure why but hosting here is incredibly expensive.

Seth Cleaver recommended Ultima http://www.ultimahosts.net/ to me, I haven't tried them yet as I am building up enough potential clients to go straight to a VPS which is what he is using.  He kindly set up the TIU site on the Australia host and they were very quick, they are a US host that just open up the Aussie side of things.  Seth says their support is next to none and they are well cheaper than most hosts I come across for what they give you. They also support Full Trust, not sure about the Application Pool problem though.

    Hope that helps.

    Hi,

Just want to share my experience I have for couple years with Exabytes. They have  their great support which is the most critical in some cases. You can ask for any customization on application pools. You can check at www.exabytes.com

    Best regards

    Hey everyone,

We are a private web development and hosting company.  We offer basic hosting packages.

Here is a list of current sitefinity sites that we host:
    tim.ascendio.com (dev)
    www.leaderformation.org
    www.freemarket.org
    www.texasdads.org
    www.texasphysicians.org
    www.thepeaceofmindinvestor.com

we have many more....100+. Anyways, we own the servers (3) which are an IIS server, DB Server (Sql 2005), and a mail server all hosted at a dedicated hosting provider (www.theplanet.com)

We currently charge $35/month which includes email and full backups.  If anyone is interested, drop us a line at http://www.ascendio.com/contact.htm and I'll see if we can sweeten the deal.

    Just our two cents, Thanks,

    www.freemarket.org
    www.texasdads.org

Also, we just received our paperwork to become an authorized SiteFinity partner.  We're hoping to get it turned in this week and become an authroized SF partner very soon.

    Hi,

I've tried many hosting providers looking the best performance and the best price without sacrificing reliability, stability. I've moved sites from exabytes.com, then tried discountasp.net. I moved from them due to slow performance since my clients are located in Greece. I moved to reliablesite.net where performance was good, features very good and reasonable price. But support was not so good.

Finally I've moved to www.softsyshosting.com where I found both performance and support to be excellent. Sites are loading very fast and full trust is there so all features of sitefinity are available. If you need help their support replies to less than 15 minutes, sometimes faster. They are there really 24x7 since I've tested them late night hours, weekends etc.

So have a look at their site www.softsyshosting

I hope the above will help many people to do not do such a large test on various providers to find a stable environment. This test period took me almost 2 years since the process of moving sites from one hosting provider to another is not so easy and takes time.

    Best regards

    Vangelis

    Hi Ahmed,

You can try any package fits your specific needs. I host many sitefinity sites in softsyshosting.com and I'm happy with the uptime, support response times and clear announcements for any issue they face on their servers or planned maintenance.

    Regards

    Vangelis

    Dear Ahmed,

Since your client in in Qatar the best is to do a tracert  (www.ping.eu) towards various hosting providers. You'll see the hops and the response. Typically US servers perform well.

    1) If you want to enable all features of Sitefinity (etc workflow) then you'll need full trust. In www.softsyshosting.com they offer it.

    2) The plan depends the space you need, the databases, the domains, the badwidth you'll need and finally the money you can afford.

    Best regards

You could also consider to use the following hosting providers:

    1) HostGator
    2) MochaHost

They offer both shared hosting (including task scheduling), VPS and dedicated servers.
