  • Posted on Sep 24, 2009 (permalink)

    Hi all,

We are happy to announce the launch of the Sitefinity Marketplace, a new section on our web site where you can download and submit ready to use controls, modules, themes and templates for Sitefinity CMS.

If you have developed add-ons for Sitefinity CMS you are welcome to make a submission at:
    http://www.sitefinity.com/marketplace/submit-module.aspx
All submissions made by the end of October will be enrolled in a raffle for five free Sitefinity licenses and ten $100 Amazon Gift Certificates. To note, each submission will be counted separately and the more items you submit, the greater the chance to win.

We hope the marketplace will become a great resource for the whole Sitefinity community.
Your feedback and suggestions will be much appreciated.

    Best Regards,
    The Sitefinity Team

A question: What is the difference between a theme and a template?

If we just template say a forum or a blog listing for example, could we post that up there?

    Thanks

    -Matt

    Hello Telerik Admin,

Please take a look at the following articles ASP.NET Themes and MasterPages overview. You can post each functionality, UI or control layout you have created and can be used directly by someone who like it.

    All the best,

Links to non-Telerik sites that explain Microsoft .master pages and Microsoft Themes are all well and good. But they do not explain the difference between these standard Microsoft programming techniques and the Telerik use of "templates".

So how are Telerik "templates" different from the standard Microsoft methods? Where is the complete documentation explaining what Telerik Sitefinity does or does not do?

And I have heard that Microsoft Themes are not supposed to be very efficient, and that it is better to use exclusively css stylesheets. So what is the Best Practice (most efficient) way to use css style sheets with Microsoft .master pages and Telerik "templates"?

    Hi Carl,

Sitefinity follows the structure of a standard ASP.NET web application. We user masterpages and themes as each ASP.NET web application does. We use controls templates as each ASP.NET control uses.\

Generally there is no difference in the master pages (templates) and themes between Sitefinity and any other asp.net website.

Let us know if  there is anything else that we can do for you.

    Greetings,
    Ivan Dimitrov
