App pool wont stay up in IIS7

I installed Sitefinity 3.7 and i click on the link to go to http://localhost/telerik/Sitefinity3.7 it gives me service unavailable. I had a look at my Application pools and it seems that the Classic .Net AppPool just dies when it runs in 32 bit mode. I am running the AppPool as LocalSystem and in the application log i get "The Module DLL C:\Windows\system32\inetsrv\rewrite.dll failed to load.  The data is the error."

The Forums.iis.net has been down since yesterday afternoon and i need an answer on this. I am running IIS7 on Windows7 Ultimate. It is a developer machine so it might be possible that i caused this to happen by changing settings in IIS (I don't think i did but you never know?) Any help to get my Sitefinity to run?

Thanks, i had a look at the article but could still not fix my issue.... my Application log error stated "The Module DLL C:\Windows\system32\inetsrv\rewrite.dll failed to load" I navigated to that path and the rewrite.dll is there, what else can I try? Forums.ii.net is down, i know this must be an IIS7 issue but i cannot wait indefinitely?

    Hi Jack Smit,

One of the most common reasons for this is that your server does not have enough free memory to load the component. You can try restarting the IIS or recycling application pool.

I rebooted my machine... only Firefox was running.... I did iisrest, the Classic .Net AppPool was running. As soon as i go to http://localhost the AppPool stops. I found a hint on forums.iis.net yesterday (before it went down) and it looks like it is related to the fact that i am trying to run it in 32 bit mode as per the Sitefinity documentation. The AppPool is fine if it runs as a 64 bit app?

What else can i try?  I would post on forums.iis.net but that site is down?

I open task manager and there is no w3wp.exe*32........ i stopped all other AppPools and start only the Classic .Net AppPool.... as soon as i try to go to http://localhost/telerik/Sitefinity3.7 i can see the w3wp.exe*32 and it just stays there for about 3 seconds before it dies? What can I do?

In event log entry  it  states "the data is in the error". Are there additional details in this error?.

No, that is it. I have tried to setup a new app pool to use and the moment i try to use the AppPool by browsing to the site the that AppPool stops.

I would try using Process Monitor to see if that can tell you whats happening when it tries to load the dll.
If should be loading from  here : C:\Windows\SysWOW64\inetsrv\rewrite.dll

Ok, I have Process Monitor from SysInternals, what should I set the filters for? I have no idea what I am looking for?

The way I got the AppPool to stay alive is to go to the advanced setting of that Application pool and under "Process Model" set the Identity to "LocalSystem". Am not sure why this worked but it did...
