  hi,
  i have create a  new project.
  now in the set database screen, i am trying to connect to oracle db, but it gives me error.
  "There was an error trying to connect to the Database Server:
  System.Data.OracleClient requires Oracle client software version 8.1.7 or greater."
  
  we are using oracle 9, what could be the reason for this error.
  can you explain me the step to connect to the oracle db. i am very much new to both .net 3.5 and oracle also.

  thanks, that helped.
  
  but now i am getting this error on step 3 "Import template data"
  
  "Importing template data failed: ORA-06550: line 1, column 80: PLS-00560: character set mismatch ORA-06550: line 1, column 67: PL/SQL: Statement ignored . Check the error log for more details."
  
  i have selected the Company-Emerald template
  
  please help

  Could you please try to set the character set for the DB to UTF8 and then try to run the website again?

  hi, i created another database and while creation set its character set to UTF8, but still getting the error.
  The error occurs when i select the checkbox for "Use this template with sample content ", if i uncheck it the work but no sample data/pages are present.

  I have tried to reproduce this with a newer version of the Oracle. I am using 11g and had no problems importing template data. Could you try to create a project using another template and see what the result would be? On a side note - the officially supported versions of Oracle are 10g +.
