Creating a thread

  1. To create a forum thread, click the forum where you want to create a forum thread.
    • If you have not created any threads, the system displays the following in the center of the screen:

    • If you have already created one or more threads, the system displays a list of all created threads and the following button in the toolbar of the page:

  2. Click Create a thread.
    The Create a thread page appears.
  3. Enter the title of the post in the thread.
  4. In the text editor, enter the post itself.

  5. By clicking More options, you can change the following:
    • The priority of the thread.
      In the dropdown box, choose whether you want to Stick this thread to the top of a list of all displayed forum threads.
      This way the thread will always appear on the top of the list of thread, regardless of how many newer threads are created.
    • Disable further post in the thread
      You can disable posting in this thread. To do this, select Close this thread to disable posting.
      You can use this option, for example, to avoid unwanted comments.
    • The automatically generated URL of the thread.
      To change it, click Change and enter a new URL name.
  6. You can choose if you want an RSS feed to be generated for this forum thread by clicking Alternative publishing (RSS) and selecting RSS feed checkbox.
    Feeds are used to publish frequently updated information, such as blogs, news, forum posts, etc. You can publish an RSS or Atom feed for the forum thread on the website and the users can subscribe to this feed. This way, they will receive updates of the thread without having to visit the website.

    You can change the settings of the automatically generated RSS feed.
    Click Change button and perform the following procedure:

    1. In RSS or Atom to generate? radio button group, select the format for the feed.
    2. In URL name, enter a URL of the feed.
    3. Choose how many items to include in the feed by selecting one of the following radio buttons:
      • Include the newest <number> items
        In the input field, enter how many of the published items you want to display.
      • Include all published items
        The feed displays all items that are published.
    4. Choose how to display the items in the feeds by selecting one of the following:
      • Title and content.
      • Title and first <number> characters.
      • Title only.
    5. To change the mapping of data fields, click Mapping Settings button.
      In the window that appears, you have a list of the data fields of the feed you are creating. To these fields, you can map fields of the RSS or Atom feed.

      When you are finished with the mapping of fields, click Accept changes.

    6. Click Done.

    7. You can display the RSS feed for the thread using the Feed widget.
      For more information, see Configuring the Feed widget.
  7. When you are finished, click Create this thread.
    The thread with its first post is created and appears in the list of all threads.
