Working with control designers
Each control in Sitefinity has a property editor, which allows you to configure the control in Sitefinity backend. The editor is represented by UI, which contains fields for the properties of the control. In addition, you can create control designers.
The control designer allows you to specify the UI for the configuration of the control. This way you can provide fields only for the most important properties. You can also provide a user friendly UI for setting complex properties. In Sitefinity you can create simple control designers and multi view control designers.
Using the control designer
To use the control designer, you must perform the following:

Open the page that contains the control, in Sitefinity backend.

Click the Edit button in the upper-right corner of the control.
A popup, which contains the UI of the designer, appears. If the control does not have a control designer, the UI of the property editor is displayed. Following is a screenshot of the designer of the News control:

Click on the Simple/Advanced button to switch between the control designer and the property editor.
If the control does not have a control designer, this button is not available.
